I want to start out by saying thank you to everyone for all of your help with growing this page. There has been some great engagement and comments from many of you, I cannot believe it.
I am asking if you guys can please share my page some of your friends and family to help grow it!
Even though I started this page for a school project that is coming to an end soon, I have really enjoyed this so much that I am going to continue to post. A little sneak peek down the pipeline for posts I have planned, is a website that someone doing a similar thing like myself, has created.
Please stay posted for some of my future posts that I will have coming and be sure to share the page and follow our instagram as well!
Two of the common topics that are very popular on our pages have been veganism and school lunches. There have also been many ideas of combining the two. This article “35 Cold Vegan Lunch Ideas for School + Work (Easy)” by Alena spotlights a lot of different easy to make school/work lunches that are also vegan! One of my favorites recipes was the “Mediterranean Pasta Salad.” It is a very simple meal to make, and it make me wonder why something like this, is not being served in schools? If you ask me, I will have no problem eating that and think most students would be okay with that as well. Look at this article and share with me some of your favorite ideas that would make for yourself, or ones you would think would be influential to have in schools.

Hello everyone! I have received a lot of feedback from some of our readers and many of you have shared your disappointment in school lunches. In fact, one of our readers suggested an article about school lunches in an area local to my University, William Paterson University.
We will be looking at Paterson New Jersey school lunches. The title of this article is “’This is not an isolated situation’: Another round of Paterson school lunch photos surface” by Joe Malinconico at the Paterson Press. The food in this article looks nothing short of disgusting. The worst part about this is that this is being fed to kindergarten students according to the Facebook post in the article. If I would not want to eat, I highly doubt that a kindergartner would want too, and that is the issue that we have. Please share your thoughts on this meal in the comments and share this so that we can bring some light to this.
I want to thank Karla Kinsley for suggesting this article and bringing it to my attention.
Good evening everyone! I hope you all are doing well. This evening I am asking you guys to please share this page with others to help it grow! Thank you so much in advanced.
In the meantime, I wanted to share a photo that I found that speaks to me a lot. Please share with me some of your thoughts on this photo.
Hello everyone! I want to start off by saying thank you to everyone for all of their comments and ideas on the pages posts, in addition to many of the different groups I am a part of! There has been some amazing ideas shared by you guys and it is awesome. I want this post to be a place where everyone can bring up some ideas of things they want to be featured on the page. Also if anyone has websites, organizations, programs, or anything of the sorts that they want to share those are welcome also. I look forward to reading all of your ideas! Thank you and have an awesome day!
If you take a look down our page, you will see us talk about school lunches a couple of times. This is because they are not focused on enough as they should be. What our kids are being fed by school lunch programs is not what they should be eating, and in a lot of cases our students are not eating it because they cannot stomach to have the food. A good option that we have came up with is bringing lunches to school. We understand that for some parents it may be hard to make lunch for their young all the time, but by making them a meal, you are ensuring that they are getting the proper nutrients. In addition, if you shop locally for your groceries, you will be supporting local farm fresh food and teaching your young this as well. Share some of your ideas in the comments and let us know what you think about our idea!
Check out this awesome visual on food security, let's discuss it in the comments!
The post for today is not an article, instead it is showcasing a programs website that is in our own backyard. William Paterson University is in Northern NJ, and the organization “Share My Meals” is based in Princeton NJ, not too far from our university. The goal of this organization is to fight food insecurity and reduce food waste all at the same time. They are a non-profit organization, and they accept volunteers to help prepare meals and distribute them, and they also accept donations of food. This really is a great program that is right in our own backyard, and even you are not planning on putting your own time out there, at least read into their website a little and see how much they are doing for our community.

Growing up in public schools in New Jersey, having a school lunch was nothing to write home about. Since the last time I had a school lunch, and after reading this article, it really seemed like it has not changed much since then. The title of the article is “Why School Lunches in America Are Unhealthy and 10 Ways You Can Take Action to Improve Them” by Lindsay Oberst is a great piece on what school lunches are like now, why they are so important, and somethings that you can do to change this. I encourage everyone to get out and try to make a change in the world that we live in today.

“20 Heroines Revolutionizing Food Activism to Improve the Planet” by Gabby Lozano is a great article about different people that are involved in Food Activism and what they have done. One of my favorites is Leah Penniman because of what she is doing to end racism in food. Check out the article and share your favorites in the comments.

If you are a person who really enjoys statistics and visualizing them using graphs, this is a great write up about the breakdown of food insecurity in certain places across the world. It is a great article with many technical definitions and explanations of food insecurity across the world.

A big issue in today’s day and age with food is the school lunches that are being provided for the young generation. The future of our country is not being fed healthy, enjoyable meals, and this article goes into that and is a good example of where the issues inside of school cafeterias really stems from.

This is a great article about food activism when it comes to a restaurant serving meals and how they should purchase their food and where they should get it from. Really good example of one small aspect of how important food activism is, and one way that people are trying to change the world we live in every day.
