One of my favourite ways of working is to go at the work with no idea of or in mind in a completely improvisational way. Basquait still remains a huge influence to me with his purposefully niave quick style. This can be soul destroying however when you end up with a giant mess. So I like to sporadically use these techniques… this time I think it worked out great.

New series heavily influenced by Yin and Yang. Although this religious idea can be helpful (I.e Good & Evil) holding two things in dialectical tension can often create false dichotomies. Like the political situation in the west; your either ‘left’ or ‘right’. A false opposition that you can see crumbling in politics, in reality we are mixture. What is your opinion on Yin&Yang and dialectics?

Transcendental Flow VI

tend to appear in my work as references such as: ‘Poppy Fields I & II’.

But I’ve never really painted the flower itself so I’d thought I would do a painting of the Poppy.

The Poppy, as well as being a beautiful flower, has connections to many dark truths in the world. Such as the O***m and he**in trade and the remembrance of soldiers. Is there a flower more linked to bloodshed?

This one is finally finished and I’m really happy with the results. Still using the layering process with liquid latex, I was able to add some freehand flair with the drawing ink. Look out for more of these figurative paintings there are plenty in the works! This would look great in a frame.
