75-97% of Filipino children have an inadequate Calcium intake. And it's not just Calcium. 😥
The 2019 study gathered data from 12,012 children aged 6-18 and was conducted by Dr. Angeles-Agdeppa, the Director of the Philippines' DOST-FNRI, Food and Nutrition Research Institute, alongside other researchers. Nestle funded it.
Unknowingly, Dr. Angeles-Agdeppa was one of the first people we talked to when we were making Dehusk fortified coconut milk!
We wish we were making this number up. This is horrible. Please give it a read and tell me I'm wrong. 😕

Edit: 92-94% of children with inadequate calcium intake are in rural areas and poor families. But it's 75-97% among the poorest to the richest, which is still pretty alarming.

Thank you for seeing the value in our story. 💙
Consider this: most Filipinos are lactose-intolerant, but dairy-free milk options in the Philippines are scarce and expensive. Dairy milk is imported, but the country is one of the world’s largest producers of coconuts.
