Delivering a taste of Christmas cheer

The aroma of a warm, oven-roasted ham fills the kitchen. The scent of fresh gingerbread lingers in the air. Hungry eyes can’t wait to sink into the soft dinner rolls steaming with hot butter.
This is what many people think of when they imagine a traditional Christmas dinner with friends and family. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to have this type of holiday meal.
But thanks to Shawn Smith and Amanda Foster, 45 local families were able to have a hearty Christmas meal this year.
“We want to help the people who are in need,” Foster said. “I can’t think of that many people who aren’t in need.”
And that’s how the idea for the “blessing box” was born. Smith and Foster gathered nominations of people who could use a meal during the holiday, and through their ministry SOL Food, which stands for Serving Our Lord, Foster and Smith collected donations to prepare the blessing boxes.

Then, grab a chocolate and see if you won a golden ticket! If so, find me by the Christmas punch near the exit to redeem your treat!!!
