Puli Koddel (Ash Gourd Curry) - Konkani

Puli Koddel is a traditional GSB curry mostly made in time of festival and auspicious days. It is a spicy, tangy and sweet all in one mixed flavor curry.

Ash Gourd also called Wax Gourd is good for detoxifying body and has several medicinal properties. It is low in calories and recommended for good health.

Ingredients (Serves - 15-20 people. Adjust proportions accordingly.)

Red chilli (Ramnad) - 15 Nos
Red chilli (Byadgi) - 6 Nos
Tamarind - Lemon size
Hing - 3-4g
Coriander seeds - 1 Tbsp
Methi seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Urad Dal - 1 Tbsp
Chana Dal - 1 Tbsp
Rice - 1.5 Tbsp
Black Til - 1.5 Tbsp
Grated Coconut - 1 full
Haldi powder - 1/4 Tsp
Ash gaurd - 3 kg
Jaggery - 1/4 kg
Salt - as per taste

For Tadka

Mustard seeds - 1 Tbsp
Curry leaves - Few

Kulitha Ramdan & Doddak (Horsegram Cake and Pancake) - Konkani

Kulitha Ramdan & Doddak are traditional GSB breakfast foods.

Kulithu (Horsegram) is a nutiritional cereal which is full of energy. It helps in weight loss, reducing blood sugar levels and cholestrol levels.

Udidu (Urad Dal) is full of protiens and improves digestion.

Tandla Kani (Idly Rava) is a source of energy and carbohydrates.

This Kulita Ramdan and Doddak is a power breakfast which helps you stay fresh & active whole day.

Ramdan is a steamed cake. Doddak is a dosa/pancake with tadka.

Kulithu (Soaked Horsegram) - 250g
Udidu (Soaked Urad Dal) - 250g
Tandla Kani (Idly Rava) - 500g

Today's Special Item - Salla Sanna Polo (Pickled Raw Jackfruit Spicy Dosa)

Salla Sana Polo or Pickled Raw Jackfruit Spicy Dosa is a rare GSB Traditonal Dish from Coastal Karnataka. Ponosu or Raw Jackfruit is pickled (stored in salt water) for about 1-2 years. It is called as Saala in Konkani.

This Saala is used for many varities of dishes from Traditional GSB Cusine. Salla Sanna Polo is a Spicy Dosa which can be eaten for lunch or dinner along with rice.

Ingredients (Serves - 15-20 people. Adjust proportions accordingly.)

Saal (Raw Jackfruit) - 1 Bowl
Soaked Rice - 500g
Hing (Asfoetida) - 4g
Tamarind - Lemon or Small ball Size
Coriander Seeds - 2 TBSP
Red Chilli (Ramnad) - 25 Nos
Salt - as per Taste
