WIMnet Northwest Network
The WIMnet Northwest network is here to support our women in the mining industry.
We encourage both women and men to our events to increase networking opportunities, industry knowledge and provide general support to the local women.
The Northwest WIMnet International Woman's Day 2022 took place last night at Mavericks Bistro and it was a huge success.
Thank you to our lovely ladies on the committee for making this event possible, and a special thanks to our speakers of the night Deb Maes and George Hoddle for your insightful view on how we can Break the Bias in our workplace.

Northwest Group Networking Event For the past 1.5 years COVID has prevented us from see some of our friends and colleague and changed how we socialise throughout the industry. The Northwest WIMnet group would like you invite you to attend a networking event to help us reconnect and enjoy some food and drinks with friends.

Tomorrow is our International Women's Day event at the Mackellar Gunnedah. Our guest speaker for this event is Deb Maes she is very accomplished in her field and the presentation she'll be giving tomorrow will be incredible. I hope those you can make it will come. Below is a brief Bio about Deb Maes:
Deb has worked successfully in the Personal Development environment for 3 decades. She is renowned for her success in delivering effective leadership coaching programs and transformational mindfulness retreats in Australia and internationally. She began her professional career as a sign language interpreter though and became 1 of the first qualified in australia and established the first and only tertiary college for the deaf in australia back in 1996.
Deb is A loyal Zontian, Zonta being the leading global organisation for the empowerment of women and girls, she currently serves as Chair of Awards and as District Leadership Development Coordinator, consulting with the international committee and president for the development of the next level of leadership programs.
Her private coaching practice, she was the first in the region to become qualified, has received many awards for excellence and in 2016 she headed up a leadership development program in the Tamworth Region and now Chairs the public NFP company Regional Unlimited delivering community projects.
She holds a Masters in Communication, and has studied in many fields of Applied Psychology
She is the author of a book on Resilience titled ‘Through My Eyes: From Struggle To Joy’ and currently writing on the neuroscience of the ancient practice of silence.

Had an awesome time last night at our Northwest Christmas networking bash. Thank you all for coming and to the sub-committee for setting up all the fantastic decorations.

Had a fantastic breakfast at the Eimex event this morning, thank you GBP cranes, KOMSS, BIS, Ultra Fleet for Red Cross for supporting the women in the work place.
Had some excellent speakers who shared their amazing journeys Keli McDonald, Penny Crawford, Julia Rennick, Penny Haire and Jacinta Mannion you are all incredible, strong and resilient women who we all look up to.
Look forward to more events like this one in our Gunnedah area.
Women in the Workforce are having a breakfast in Gunnedah this Friday at the Gunnedah showgrounds.
All proceeds go to drought relief, the breakfast starts at 7am and goes til 9am.

Our first Networking event was held on the 29th of August and it went off without a hitch. We had 27 participants from numerous mining companies in the region, generous food platters were supplied by the Gunnedah Courthouse who also hosted us for the event.
Everyone was relaxed and socialising, catching up with old friends and making new ones.
Good times all round, thank you to everyone who came you all made it a great night. Hope to have more like it very soon.
Girls Rocking Resources!!
Some of our WIMnet team help host the Gunnedah School girls back in March, everyone got to see one of Whitehaven’s coal mines and inspect some dump trucks.
Both BIS and Whitehaven staff got up and spoke about their careers in the mining industry, it was a good day for everyone.
