“Accutane Users Are Terrified”, WOW what an article. Many may not have realized how Roe vs Wade has affected us all including medical physicans. This article brings me back to 10 years ago, when I had a patient who was on accutane. She consented to the medication while knowing the risk of birth defects, and accidentally became pregnant when missed her birth control. This led to the unfortunate decision of abortion. In dermatology, like many other specialties we prescribe medications that are associated with birth defects. However accutane like other medications is an amazingggggg treatment for acne. Is it true that Black skin doesn’t crack?

Black skin shows signs of aging more slowly than less-pigmented skin due to several factors. First is melanin, an antioxidant which gives skin its color and protects the skin from UV radiation from the sun. You can think of melanin as the ozone layer of the skin.

Black skin seems to age more slowly because of denser collagen and increased sebaceous activity of the skin.

Understand that courage is fear wrapped in prayer 🙏🏾. ☀️While is still the Holy Grail of sun protection…. There are other mindful tips / trick to keeping you this

1) Wear a hat 🧢👒 —> wide brim hats will also protect the ears 👂🏼

2) 🏌🏽‍♀️🏊🏽‍♂️🏃🏽‍♂️Plan outdoor activities for when the sun rays are NOT at the strongest —> which is before 10 AM and after 4 PM

3) whenever possible seek shade either under a tree when resting or walking on the shady side of the sidewalk. Also, don’t forget to pack that beach umbrella☂️

Thinning along the edge of the hairline is very common for many reasons, including:

•Traction from tight/pulling hair styles like braids
•Normal aging/hairline recession
•Post-partum hair loss

I always recommend a combined treatment approach when it comes to treating hair loss and thinning. There are so many factors that go into hair loss—styling, stress, hormones, aging, nutrition/diet, genetics, etc. We use all the tools we have to improve hair growth!

I include injections of growth factors (PRP or Exosomes), serums, vitamins and medicines (when necessary) in my treatment plans.
