Heor says happy Juneteenth! June 19th, 1865 is the day that some of the last enslaved people in United States were told of the emancipation proclamation. Juneteenth is important not only to Black Americans with ancestors brought to United States through slave trades, Juneteenth is important to EVERYONE. If you aren’t taking a moment to reflect on the weight of this day, you should be.
Celebrate today by supporting Black cultures, and by reflecting on the privileges you have that are provided to you by the broken backs of Black people dating back hundreds of years. Take a moment of silence to mourn the people who lost their lives and loved ones.
