Our SSHS VA Cheerleaders are currently running a fundraiser to help support our upcoming season. Each dozen is only $10 AND we will deliver them right to you on July 17th!! You can also order a dozen and have us deliver them to a family or friend! Maybe your office staff would love a donut on their break!!
Regardless, we have you covered and they are cheaper through us than running through the drive thru yourself! Save money and time!! 💯❤️

This week our VA cheerleaders attended camp at The University of Alabama. The team earned several superior ribbons for their performances as well as the Spirit Stick. Five girls were named UCA All-Americans: Addie Russell, Kayli Burt, Kailyn Summers, Hayden Suggs, and Rilynn Smith. Maddie Smallwood received the Pin It Forward award. Smitty and Smitty Jr. received the spirit award and both were named All-American mascots! Smitty also won the jump off competition. 🐾

The team also received the following:
Camp Routine: 3rd place
Game Day Routine: 5th place
Cheer Performance: 5th place
Overall Gameday: 5th place

TODAY IS THE DAY!! We want to wish everyone trying out for our cheer and mascot team the best of luck! Everyone has been amazing this week and worked so hard to get to this point. We also want to say thank you to our SENIORS that have spent the week teaching, mentoring, and encouraging these athletes in preparation for today. They have been amazing and this program and these coaches are going to miss this group so much! You have represented our school and community with pride, spirit, and dedication. It has been an honor to have you a part of this team and we will always be cheering you on as you move forward to the next chapter of life. You will forever be a special part of this cheer family. ❤️🐾📣

We are in the planning stages for our JV & VA cheer tryouts for the 2023-2024 season. If you are currently in the 8th grade- 11th grade and are interested in attending tryouts please complete the survey below. This is just an interest survey not a commitment to trying out. Again, this is only for JV & VA teams. If your child is currently in the 6th or 7th grade that information will go out separately. There will be a parent meeting in February to discuss details of tryouts. More information will be posted soon.

Our SSHS VA Cheer Halloween party was such a TREAT! Thank you to Poco Locos for having us for an awesome dinner! The girls also collected and donated several can food items that we will be delivering to the SS Food Pantry at SSBC for the upcoming holiday season. 🎃❤️🐾

Thank you Smiths Station Baptist Church for hosting a special breakfast this morning. We appreciate it so much!

Congratulations Coach Johnson! We are so happy for you! We appreciate everything you do for our program! 🖤🐾

Smiths Station Athletics is excited to announce Shana Johnson as the Athletic Director for Smiths Station High School. Coach Johnson began her career at Notasulga High School, coaching basketball and softball teams to area and state championship games. She was named the 2001 Softball Coach of the Year by the Auburn/Opelika News, the 2003 and 2004 Associated Press and Auburn/Opelika Basketball Coach of the Year, and was named the head coach for the AHSAA Girls Basketball South All-Star team two times in her career. She was also the Athletic Director for Notasulga High School from 2003-2005.

Coach Johnson has worked at Smiths Station High School for the last 17 years, and has extensive, successful experience in athletic administration and coaching, and has been an integral part of Smiths Station Athletics. She has taught physical education and previously served as the head coach for Tennis, Basketball, Softball, and Volleyball. She has held the titles of Administrative Assistant, Assistant Athletic Director, and Women’s Athletic Director during her tenure here. She was named the 2019-2020 Smiths Station High School Teacher of the Year.

Coach Johnson says that she “is excited to lead and develop our students in our athletic programs in developing positive values of sportsmanship, teamwork and competition.” Additionally, she plans to maximize student, faculty, and community engagement.

SSHS is thrilled to have Coach Johnson serving in this well-deserved new capacity and we know that she will be a tremendous asset to all of our athletic programs.
