🙌🏽👑 TRADITION 👑🙌🏽

Back in 2019 I gave Kat my college chest protector. It was something to represent a leader; fierce, dangerous, fearless, resilient, and most of all someone everyone can count on. She wore it throughout our hs season when I coached her, her senior year winning state. 🫶🏽🏆

August 9, 2020 Kat and I created a tradition where we would hand down my chest protector to the next leader of our family. This was the day Neveah became our families leader. She earned it hands down through work ethic, attitude, personality, mentality, and just being a great human everyone can come to, turn to, or be there to always cheer you on and support you!

Last week, Neveah and I discussed who was next in line. Who represents our family and is the third generation for us to look up to? She didn’t hesitate when she said “Mal!!!”
•
Mal is one of the most energetic, loving, always willing to help those around her, always joking making everyone laugh, and is someone everyone loves to be around. She is a huge role model on and off the field and someone I always get compliments for! She is a force to be reckoned with behind the dish and has the BEST transfer so effortless out of anyone! She is the definition of our leadership and someone you want in your corner!

November 15, 2023 - I couldn’t be more proud for Neveah to pass on the thrown tonight to such an outstanding athlete, human, and legend!! Thank you Mal for finding the good in everything, working so hard, being an example to those around you, being everyone’s hype (wo)man, and truly just being YOU!!

These past few days have been a struggle to say the least, but by all means I will not give up. I do not have a bone in my body for quitting, for defeat, or for losing. My mindset has always been to “give” - I am a giver full-heartedly. Give all I have to others, give all I have to what I am doing in life. Give all I have even if I don’t have anything to give; give anyways. BUT If I can push through the hard days, the struggle days, the mental days, the physical days, the days where you feel you just can’t anymore; then why can’t you?

Disconnect from things/people who don’t serve a purpose in your life helping get to the next level of your journey.

Defeat is not an option - it’s a choice, but trying until you succeed is a mindset!

To say the emotions today weren’t through the roof, tears constantly falling, wondering where the time went with my girls has amazed me to the fullest. Another year of seniors. Another year of scholarships. Dreams coming true. Hard work paying off. Smiles bigger, tears shed, papers signed and their next chapters have already began!

I am so incredibly proud of my girls for being such amazing athletes on the field, outstanding students in the classroom, and some of the most genuine humans you will ever meet. These girls will welcome you with open arms, love you to the fullest, and protect you to the end.

This group is quite special to me. 🥹Today has been bittersweet as I feel a part of me is leaving - majority of my seniors have been with me for 3-8 years. They are my daughters, my minis, my inspiration, my world! I love them all to pieces and I can’t wait to watch this next chapter unfold for y’all!

My athletes make fun of me all the time bc of the amount of sleep I DONT get literally studying EVERYTHING I can to make them better each day, each week, each text message, each video analyzed.

The other day I overheard 2 of my athletes:

Athlete A: “Is coach married?”

Athlete B: “No, but she’s married to the facility. She’s committed to all of her girls.”

This hit my heart in several ways. I am indeed committed to every one of my athletes. And so are my boys. As a single parent, my boys don’t get to play sports bc I can’t get them there. We do rodeo on Saturdays during season & kickboxing on our days we are not training at the facility. A coach doesn’t get PTO like everyone else. Or vacation time bc our loyalty is to our athletes and their needs doing exactly what this article states. Yes, our kids pay a price as well. Coaching isn’t easy at all, it definitely has more lows than highs, but let me tell you the highs always will out weight the lows.

I always tell my girls I’ll lose sleep for them any day if that means spending HOURS going through videos, drills, writing motivational notecards (yes i do write them every day), & even trying to find deals on candy for them 😂

They are some of the greatest humans around, the hardest working, most impactful people I want my boys raised around, and no matter what they do in life, where they go, what they want to pursue as their careers, & even when they have families of their own…. There’s one thing that’ll never change; coach & her boys will always love you, support you, encourage you, & have your 6!

So, yes I have 6 boys, over 100 daughters, I’m married to the facility, & committed to my kids. As stressful as it can be sometimes, I wouldn’t change it for the world getting to see these kiddos accomplish more than they imagined, & watching them be the difference & make the difference in this world!

Coaching is a bit like an addiction…wait! Hear me out!

This post is for all of the coaches out there…I SEE YOU!

Unless you’ve held the title of coach or had a wife, husband, mom or dad who has held that title, you may not understand.

On the surface and from the outside (or often even from players’ perspectives) coaching appears to be a position of power, influence, and ego. The reality is that many (if not most) coaches couldn’t be operating farther from that position.

The reality is that we FEEL every low that our players experience and spend hours upon hours (during what most professions would consider “off” time) trying to find solutions to everything from how to score more points in x rotation to how to help Suzy see herself as the amazing, competent person and player you see her as to how to help that one freshmen make real connections to how to help that injured player remember their value with or without their sport to…you get the point. These are the hard days that often make us question if all of the sacrifices we’ve made (missing our own kids’ stuff, long days, pay that often equals pennies per hour) are worth it.

Then along comes the HIGH! A big win where your team overcame adversity. An affirming text from an alum thanking you for your influence. A once struggling freshman shining as a senior leader. A moment of true connection. The light in a player’s eyes when they accomplish something they’ve been struggling with. It will make you go through the lows over and over again!

Here’s to more highs than lows for you this week, coaches! I see you!

It's one of those things where when we were kids we remember certain experiences growing up & I remember my dad telling me “if you want it to be different then be the change.” 💪🏽

Braydan rode in Estes on Saturday & didn’t have his best ride, the sheep were wet from the downpour that just occurred. But he gave it his best. Beau saw his brother didn’t win & started tearing up. He just wanted him to succeed. 🥹
I love his humble heart the most, the little girl that won was crying the entire time in the line, she did not want to ride. He kept smiling at her and she won bc she was too afraid to fall off.😂 but he told her good job & when we were walking out of the arena, he tells me he was so proud of her. She was so brave and she won!!👑
Sunday, both boys rode in Wyoming Braydan redeeming himself bc he was determined to do better, was sitting in 2nd place. Beau rode after him with the final ride of the day……he learns from his brother, coming in hot putting his brother at 3rd and finishing on top with a champion buckle!! 🥇🥉
Braydan was his biggest hype man, so excited for Beau raising his hand in the air & saying “that’s my brother!” This melted my heart! I love these boys so much!! 🙌🏽♥️👑🐑🥇🥉

As you become one of my athletes you become one of my daughters. This girl here has been my girl since 2021 when she walked up to a workout nervous as could be but with the biggest smile on her face! From busting her tail keeping up with now all her big sisters, this girl never looked back.

We succeed together. We fail together. We rise together. We fall together. But there’s nothing in this life I wouldn’t do for this girl to watch her always reach her goals. She is with me almost 5 days a week pushing to achieve goals 12 year olds don’t even think of, but this one is different. Our motivational talks, coaching strategies, and so much more makes this kid my mini! She loves everything about the game and if you ever get the chance to be apart of her circle you are lucky, she’ll impact your life, change your outlook on situations, and have you coming out of your comfort zone more and more!

I sure do love when athletes come to town and want to jump in with the fun!!!

Madi girl joined me in 2017 when she was about 1/3 of that size, tiny as could be and was always told she couldn’t be a catcher because she was too small!

Little do you know she took that and ran with it and now look at her!!

Her family moved to AZ and she picked up with a catching coach out there, but once you’re apart of my family you ALWAYS AND FOREVER REMAIN apart of my family!!

It was so good seeing y’all today and having you join our crew for a great workout! Can’t wait to see your journey continue to unfold and watch her succeed at all levels my girl!!

If anyone knows Clay, you should know if you ask him to take a picture you will indeed get one of him so you never forget who he is!!! 😂
