“What am I working on? I'm working on something that will change the world, and human life as we know it.”
David Cronenberg's 1986 sci-fi/horror movie remake of THE FLY is widely hailed as one of the most disturbing visual displays of the decade. Seth Brundle, an ambitious scientist has created the world's first teleportation device. When Seth inadvertently enters the transmitter pod along with a common housefly, the device splices the genes of both species to create one large monstrous mutation. The worse his condition becomes, the more he loses his sense of humanity.
THE FLY landed in US theatres on August 15, 1986, grossing $60 million on a $15 million budget. The film earned an Oscar Award for Best Makeup (Chris Walas, Stephan Dupuis) and was produced by comedic legend Mel Brooks, a fact he deliberately kept shrouded from the public.

Directed by Gerald Potterton
Starring the voice talents of John Candy, Harold Ramis
1981| 86m|CANADA | (15) | 1.85:1 | Dolby SR|
“I am the sum of all evils. Look carefully. My power infests all times, all galaxies, all dimensions. But many still seek me out; a green jewel they must possess…”
Based on the fantastical illustrated magazine Heavy Metal, producer Ivan Reitman enlists the help of some of Hollywood's animation masters to create the otherworldly tale of a glowing green orb from outer space that spreads destruction throughout the galaxy. Only when encountered by its one true enemy, to whom it is inexplicably drawn, will goodness prevail throughout the universe. Richly and lavishly drawn, the vignettes of the orb's dark victories include the character voices of John Candy, Harold Ramis and a pounding soundtrack by Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Devo, Donald Fagen, Don Felder, Grand Funk Railroad, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Nazareth, Stevie Nicks, Riggs, and Trust. Highly imaginative and full of surprising special effects, Heavy Metal set the standard for alternative contemporary animation. An intoxicating experience not to be missed!
The DITG team are thrilled to screen this from a 1994 re-strike 35mm print in earth shattering Dolby Stereo SR!
Sun 15th 17.30 - DARK ANGEL (1990) - [35mm]

But bizarre new clues reveal that the Boys' criminal enterprise extends much further than anyone had previously imagined.
Alternately titled ‘I Come In Peace’. It’s back up on the big screen where it belongs, don’t miss this under rated Sci-Fi Blockbuster!
Sun 15th 19.30 - ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (1981) - [35mm]
Directed by John Carpenter
