Seemed like a nice day to get the ol’ canes out!
Not quite up to my guy ’ 30-second piano holds today (🙌), but this 5-second hold this morning was a PR for me nevertheless and I’m pumped!
This dude has been a huge source of inspiration to me ever since I walked into Awaken Bodyweight Fitness for the first time a little less than 3 years ago—and training together has been so intertwined with my journey, it’s difficult to imagine where I’d be had our paths not crossed. Suffice it to say: I’m glad they did!
Zach Vose, I appreciate you a ton not only as a training partner and mentor (and dirty comedian) in the gym, but also as a friend in life. Thanks for continuing to push me to be better each day, bro.

Sometimes I just don’t give a tuck.
Sunny Saturday ‘Stand.
KEEP. PUSHING.
I struggled mightily today with handstand push-ups, and that critical voice in my head was chirping at me, calling me “weak”, telling me I should give up on this pursuit.
But, like always, I knew it just wanted my attention, it needed it to survive, so I shut it up and focused my energy instead on something much more productive: these banded straddle planche holds! 💪
Many of us hear messages that don’t serve us, that we simply don’t need. Some are louder than others. They’re resurrected from our childhoods, cruel words from a stepfather or a parent. And they are not real. We each must realize they are not who we truly are. They need not be part of us. They need not exist for us any longer. Each of us has the power within ourselves to create new, gentler, kinder responses. And this is real growth. This is true strength.
