Wibsey Village FC

Today seen Wibsey village away to St Bedes and with Wibsey wanting to keep the pressure on shelf at the top they knew nothing but three points mattered.

Wibsey and everyone fort we was 1-0 in first couple of minutes with a corner thinking it went in. Then to realise it didn’t oh dear!

Wibsey started very well and with Jake Peacock making his league debut for Wibsey started very brightly with all the front linking up and Jake with a calm finish into the net. 0-1

Wibsey controlled every part of this game football was was great and with a cross coming in from Richie & St Bedes player couldn’t sort his feet and his hands quick enough. Ended up with a pen awarded to Wibsey for handball.

Up stepped Jordan Mortimer & sent the keeper the round way 0-2

Wibsey then smelt blood and went for the kill with another goal coming before the break yet again Jake peacock with another finish into the another corner this time. Great signing for Wibsey was this one.

Second half started and yet again controlled everything wasn’t a threat towards Wibsey.

Then came the moment I glad I didn’t see because a mistake between Dylan & Chris handed St bedes the easier finish ever to tap home into an open net.

Other chances came as Tom Ware hit post from a freekick but second half Wibsey slacked off abit and just seen the game out.

Vs Royal Oak

We keep coming! 👏🏻💪

Today the boys travelled down to Apperley Bridge to face Royal Oak in the league, the lads have had abit of a break with games getting called off because of the bad weather and knew they had to get back on the grind to close the gap to the top spot.

First half started and the boys had a very slow start to the game but eventually started to pick up the pace abit playing some okay football, not long into the first half the Ref awarded Royal Oak a penalty from a so called foul from CB Dylan even some of the Royal Oak players said it wasn't a Penalty but its Sunday leauge football anything can happen, luckily for Wibsey the penalty was put wide, the lads applied the pressure and had numerous of chances that hit the woodwork atleast 5 or 6 times, the score finally opened up for Wibsey with Joe slotting home a calm finish to make it 1-0 to the boys

2nd half got underway Wibsey applied pressure and soon got there 2nd of the game coming from a cross that looped the keeper straight into the back of the net the cross coming from Tom Ware that made the game 2-0
The game opened up abit for Royal Oak and soon applied the pressure back on Wibsey and shortly scored 2 quick goals that leveled the game back to 2-2, the boys dug deep and pushed on for the winner with atleast 5 minutes to play and the breakthrough came with some beautiful football being played between woody, Jordan Mortimer and Kian Blake that seen an opening for kian to slot home Wibsey 3rd goal 3-2, everyone thought the game was done there with only 1 minute to be played and the Ref awarded Royal Oak another penalty that wasn't once again a penalty, up stepped the Royal Oak player to take the pen and it was saved by Chris Preston with an unreal save to keep the 3pts for the lads 💪

Today wasn't our best performance but we dug in deep and got the 3pts, but what makes the result even better now is finding out Shelf Fc lost and now the boys are only 1pt behind top of the leauge and still have to play them 💪

Are first game in 2 weeks after 2 games being called off for bad weather not much change since are last game. Liam Warburton not available so Joe Fridlington comes into to replace him.

This week sees the return of Ryan wood to full fitness too.

Today the lads was back in league action against a side that already beat them previously in the league, the boys knew today was a massive game for them and needed to turn up with a solid performance.

Wibsey Village started of the game very strongly applying the pressure to Rattlers Fc, some excellent football was played thoughtout the team and it wasn't to long before Wibsey took the lead, Wibsey won a free kick and Tom Ware played in a beautiful ball for Stricker Richard Carter to head home to make it 1-0

The lads kept on applying pressure and playing excellent football that lead to one of the Rattlers players getting frustrated and lashed out abuse towards the Ref that seem him getting sent off, Wibsey knew this was the time to push on a punish Rattlers and the second goal was important but unfortunately that didn't come in the first half

Second half started and the boys was back at it pressing high and challenging for every ball, it didn't take long into the 2nd half for the lads to get there 2nd of the game, the ball was nicely placed into Jordan Mortimers feet from Liam Warby for Jordan to the go slot home to make it 2-0

The boys had the game in there hands and knew they couldn't slip up now after how hard they had worked through out the game and pushed on and got a 3rd, Dylan Rheams launching in one of his throws that got flicked to the back post for Warby Snr to head home to make it 3-0, the boys kept on going and soon came there 4th once again coming from Richard Carter with a right footed shot to make it 4-0

Absolutely outstanding performance today from the lads and a well deserved victory, Wibsey Village now sit 1pts behind the league leaders💪🏼

Vs Rattlers

Today the lads took on Rattlers First in a cup tie down at Carbottom Road but unfortunately today wasn't our day 😩

The first half got underway and Wibsey looked very sluggish and Rattlers was applying the pressure early and created a few chances but luckily for Wibsey the chances wasn't taken as we had Chris preston to thank with 4/5 top class save including the best of the bunch with a great double save first half ended 0-0

Gaffa Benjamin Preston had alot to say to the lads at half time and the performance that Wibsey give wasn't good enough at all

Second half got underway and within 10 minutes Dylan Rheams unfortunately gave a penalty away but luckily keeper Chris Preston saved it to keep the lads in the game, about 5 minutes later another penalty was awarded to Rattlers but this time they slotted it home to make it 1-0, The Wibsey boys knew now was the time they had to apply the pressure to get anything out this game the lads kept on digging and finally a breakthrough happened for the Wibsey boys scoring an equaliser but what a finish it was coming from Ryan Murgatroyd scoring an over head kick to get the game back to 1-1, The boys was shortly awarded a penalty for a handball, up stepped Jordan Mortimer to take it but unfortunately wasn't ment to be as the Rattlers keeper saved it to keep the game on qual terms, there wasn't really much left of game and the final whistle blew but that only ment one thing in a cup game it headed straight to penalties.

Rattlers was up first and slotted away there first penalty that put pressure on Wibsey to do the same but unfortunately Warby Snr missed his chance, yet again keeper Chris Preston stepped up and saved Rattlers second penalty to keep the boys in the game, Wibseys next 4 penalties was scored by Ryan Murgatroyd, Tom Ware, Dylan Rheams and Jordan Mortimer this lead the penalties going into sudden death, Rattlers took there opportunity and scored but up stepped Liam Warby who sadly missed from the spot that crowned Rattlers the win in a 5-4 penalty shootout.

As it is cup game we had made 4 changes to are starting Eleven as Steven Warburton JNR, Richard Rutter, Liam Warburton & Admir Zenkovic come in.

All 3 subs will be made a half time giving them game time too.

Vs Queensbury FC

Another win for Wibsey today as we did the double over Queensbury & kept pushing on.

All Wibsey goals came in the first half with Chucky grabbing himself a brace from two set pieces and another 2 assists from Steven Warburton.

2-0

The third goal came from neat play between Tom Ware and Jordan Mortimer down the left hand side for Tom to square the ball across for it to be cut out by a queeny player but fell at the feet of Ryan Murgatroyd to tap home from 2 yards out.

We were playing some good stuff and were getting the better of Queensbury and soon another fourth goal from Admir Zenkovic to kill any hope of them getting into the game.

Not much to go on the second we slacked off with making changes to a couple of half chances that fell to us but could take them.

Second game where we were stupid to give a goal in the last couple of seconds when you're begging for a clean sheet.

Today the boys was back in action after having a week off with no game to face a decent Eccleshill Punjab team.

The lads started the game very well playing some good football which lead to Wibseys first goal coming from the one and only Old Warby who has been firing in goals for fun this season, he was assisted by a beautiful ball from Woody, The game continued and the lads slowly fell apart that then led to Eccleshill to punish the boys by scoring 2 goals in quick time to put them into the lead going into half time.

HT 2-1

The second half got underway and after a talking to from the gaffer Wibsey slowly started to pick up the pace, as the lads was pushing to get the equaliser 2 players started fighting each other what led to them both getting a straight red card which put Eccleshill Punjab down to 9 men, Wibsey knew this was there time to push even more with chances coming from all over the pitch but then a break through finally happened when Dylan Rheams launched in a throwin straight into the oppositions box that got slotted away by Chucky to put Wibsey back on level terms 2-2, not long after the boys dug in deep and finally got 2 more goals both coming from Murgy who slotted away 2 very clean finishes, the lads done enough and the final whistle blew and Wibsey took the 3pts with a 4-2 win.

The lads wasn't at there full potential today but showed grit and determination to get the 3pts.

Another solid performance from the lads again today each week looks to go from strength to strength.

Wibsey started well on the front foot killing north ave at the back only for chances from all of the team not to find the back of the net just wouldn't happen for us today.

Until Rinalds got on to Jordan Mortimer corner to head home his first of the season.

Wibsey carried on working the back line only to miss good chances & getting that feeling wasn't going to be are game today.

Then got in again only for the keeper to bring down Warby & what comes after that Jordan Mortimer from the spot.

More & More chances for the wibsey lot.

Gaffer made a change at half time to bring Adz on to start winning headers & give us more of a chance in Air & first chance after the break fell to Adz with his header coming too close to flying in bottom corner unfortany for wibsey keeper made the save.

wibsey was soon 0-3 up when Warby netted with a good finish.

With 10 mins left wibsey give a pen away only for that clean sheet to go begging

With 5 mins left wibsey turned the screw for us to bag another three goals from warby left footed finish & then for murgy to chip in with a 5th & only for jordan to go and make it 6.

In truth this game could have been at least 20 for 90 mins. We tore them apart.
