The final conference (multiplier event) of the ENACTING project was successfully held in Larissa/Greece on Thursday 18 May 2023, at the beautiful industrial museum of Mill of Pappas (in collaboration with the Mayoralty of Culture and Sciences of the Municipality of Larissa).

This event was joined by representatives from all the ENACTING consortium partners who were able to present in detail all the results of the project to a large audience consisting of teachers and educators, social scientists and filmmakers, representatives of local government, young and adult artists, representatives of social bodies and organisations supporting vulnerable social groups, from almost the entire region of Thessaly.

The representatives of the consortium presented the Methodology of Identification of Local Challenges in Urban Settings (IO1), the Social Documentary Training Course (IO2) and the MOOC asynchronous education platform (IO3) as well as the Participatory Media Lab (IO4) which includes the European Social Documentary Festival and the creators' interaction Forum.

During the event we had the opportunity to watch 2 social documentaries created through the ENACTING training in Greece and talk to their creators.
The first one entitled "AesthEDics: The Reality of Teaching Aesthetics in Greek Primary Schools" was created by teachers Theodora Blakou, Danae Vezyri and Sophia Kanaki from the 4th Primary School of Tirnavos-Larissa, who approached in a critical way the insufficient time devoted to Art Education by the official curriculum of Primary Education, which results in the limitation of the benefit of these lessons to the students. It is worth mentioning that this documentary won the award for the best documentary from Greece at the ENACTING European Social Documentary Festival held on 28-29 April.
The second one entitled "Fast forward in two worlds" was created by Dimitra Varvarezou and Eleni Barboudaki (Disability Voices) from Volos and highlighted the accessibility obstacles faced by people with disability in public space and their daily city movements, offering the public a new perspective on disability and inclusion.

The open discussion that followed with the audience and the creators highlighted the value of the social documentary as an agent of social change at local level, while ideas for adapting the educational material in order to address different target groups (e.g. primary school students) were also discussed.

After this event, it is now a common belief that the ENACTING project with the end of its official duration (June 2021-May 2023) marks a new beginning for its results to be exploited on a wide scale.

📍 On May 17th the ENACTING consortium gathered together in Larissa, Greece, for the final transnational meeting after the exciting adventure of the ENACTING DIGITAL FILM FESTIVAL.

A day full of discussions in which we went through the many positive results that were achieved during these past two years and made the point on the last things to do before the reporting phase.
The warm and friendly welcome of our partners at SMouTh Synergy of Music Theatre at the Mill of Pappas and Connectiva made the sadness for the approaching end of the project less heavy. Thanks to JKPeV and all the consortium partners for the work and the inputs in this intense and challenging period.

Let's hope to cross our paths again soon!

Last weekend, our exciting ENACTING DIGITAL FILM FESTIVAL took place. We dedicated two days to social documentary: We presented the ENACTING project and the partners behind it. We received insights from international filmmakers in short interviews. We discussed the power of social documentary films with sociologists, educators, cultural scientists and documentary filmmakers. International film experts introduced us to the ENACTING online course in the four Virtual Guides THE ART OF SOCIAL RESEARCH AND INCLUSION, THE ART OF FILMING, THEART OF SOUND AND LIGHT, and THE ART OF EDITING. A special highlight and pleasure was the online award ceremony, where we honoured documentary films submitted for the festival competition in the categories BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY, BEST DIRECTOR, BEST CAMERA and BEST EDITING, and the award-winning filmmakers talked to us and our experts about their films and their experiences. The project consortium then announced afterward the BEST DOCUMENTARY FROM GERMANY, BEST DOCUMENTARY FROM FRANCE, BEST DOCUMENTARY FROM GREECE, BEST DOCUMENTARY FROM ITALY, BEST INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY. Again, we had the great honour of congratulating all the winning filmmakers online and conducting a short interview with them.
The festival closed with a Streaming of all awarded and also all nominated documentaries. This festival selection will soon be available on the ENACTING homepage. Feel free to check it out: https://enacting-project.eu/

Our ENACTING Digital Film festival enters its second and final day. Today from 15:oo we will award the best documentaries in the categories Best Original Screenplay, Best Camera, Best Director and Best Editing. For these four categories, we welcome a number of international experts and filmmakers to talk about the award-winning documentaries with the filmmakers and discuss the different facets of documentary production. In addition, the best social documentaries from Germany, France, Greece, Italy and the best international documentary will be awarded.

Afterwards we will screen all the amazing and interesting documentaries that made it into our Enacting festival selection.

We are now just a few dozen hours away from the beginning of the ENACTING - THE DIGITAL FILM FESTIVAL and all the consortium partners met today to set up the final details for Friday 28th and Saturday 29th of April, two days full of discussions, presentations, trainings and lots of social documentaries from all over the world!

The jury members have watched more than 60 social documentaries that have been submitted to the competition section of the festival and on Saturday the documentaries that have won the nine awards in the following categories will be announced:
Best Screenplay / Best Editing / Best Camera / Best Director / Best documentary from Germany / Best documentary from France / Best documentary from Italy / Best documentary from Greece / Best International documentary.

On Wednesday 12th April, the dissemination event of 𝑬𝑵𝑨𝑪𝑻𝑰𝑵𝑮 was held at the Ernesto Ragionieri Public Library in Sesto Fiorentino (Florence).

During the event, We explained the functioning of the 𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 and presented the 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬.

This was followed by an 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 in which various documentaries were shown with the aim of analysing their technical, communicative and content-related aspects.

As part of the ENACTING project, we had the great pleasure of interviewing documentary filmmaker Lucas Paleocrassas. He has made documentaries for television and cinema that have been screened at international festivals and major educational institutions such as Sapienza University in Rome and New York University. In 2022, his feature-length documentary Final Year, co-produced by Anemon Productions and the Hellenic Film Center, was selected for the competition of the 24th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival.

While dozens of social documentaries are currently being completed across Europe by inspiring filmmakers aiming to create social change in our communities, established documentary filmmakers have already turned their attention to the ENACTING project and the community of young filmmakers.

A well-known documentary filmmaker from Greece will participate in the final event of the project in Larissa (Greece) on May 18th, and will share with us the social need that motivated him to create his new documentary, which recently took part in the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.

As part of the ENACTING project, we had the great pleasure of interviewing filmmaker and photographer Camille Holtz. She lives and works in Marseille and is part of a collective of young artists in the city: The Nou Collective. As part of this ensemble, she organises film screenings in Paris, among other things.

The monthly, regular meeting of the project partners took place via zoom on Friday 10 June and the smiles and satisfaction were noticeable!

All project activities are being implemented according to the original timeline, despite the difficulties created by the covid-19 during last autumn and winter, and the quality level of the results so far exceeds all expectations.

The tools created for the social research needed for the ENACTING social documentaries have been successfully tested (involving more than 500 people from all relevant sectors) and will soon be available for use by end-users.

The training material developed has been tested once again by the beta testers and will be translated into the 4 languages of the consortium (German, Italian, French and Greek) during the next weeks in order to start training via the project's MOOC platform and to start producing the first social documentaries by the project's target groups.

These summer months are expected to be particularly creative, so stay tuned!
