Lockdown is increasing the population’s sedentary behaviour and risk of chronic disease. Now more than ever it is crucial to engage in frequent physical activity.

To maintain health the national guidelines recommend adults accumulate 150-300 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity or 75-150 minutes of vigorous intensity physical activity each week. Also to do muscle strengthening activities on at least 2 days each week.

Lacking motivation? Looking for a safe and effective exercise option? Reach out today.

Every step forward counts. 👊

18/11/2019

One study which looked at over 7,000 GPs and over 680,000 patient encounters found that there were only 619 referrals to exercise physiologists.

Why is this significant?

Well, there's a few reasons:
1) Research has repeatedly shown that exercise not only helps to reduce your risk of developing a wide range of chronic diseases, it also helps patients to manage their condition, improve their quality of life and reduce risk of comorbidities.
2) Almost half of all Australians are living with a chronic condition, and nearly 1 in 4 people are living with two or more.
3) Exercise physiologists are the best placed allied health professionals when it comes to prescribing exercise to those with chronic conditions.

It's worth noting that this study also found that GP referral rates to exercise physiologists are slowly increasing, and it's a trend we can totally get behind!

We're hoping that by spreading this message, we can encourage more GPs to talk to their patients about exercise (and vice versa), and increase the number of doctors referring to appropriately qualified exercise professionals.

It’s good to challenge our beliefs about low back pain!
Great post by .caleb.burgess! 😊👍

“💥Low Back Pain Beliefs💥
-
📌 In 2014, a study by Darlow et al was published in BMJ Open. The study looked at beliefs of back pain in New-Zealand citizens above 18 years of age
-
📊 602 valid responses were received. Although not all of them had back pain at the moment (27%, which is still a substantial amount), 87% had experienced it at least once in their lives
-
⁉️ 34 questions were asked. A few of the most shocking results can be seen in the picture
-
📊 Negative views about the back and back pain were prevalent, in particular the need to protect the back to prevent injury
-
😩 People with current back pain had more negative overall scores, particularly related to back pain prognosis (outcome)
-
📈 Participants also showed uncertainty about links between pain and injury and appropriate physical activity levels during an episode of back pain
-
💯 Respondents had more POSITIVE views about activity if they had consulted a HEALTH PROFESSIONAL about back pain, which illustrates the power of EDUCATION in back pain recovery👍🏼
-
📣 TAKE HOME MESSAGE: Your BELIEFS can strongly influence your back PAIN and your RECOVERY, both positively and negatively
-
💯 That's why it's important to remember that MOST people experience back pain at least once in their lives, and MOST people recover just fine
-
💪🏼 Your back is STRONG and RESILIENT. Treat it that way!

Jason Cobon's Mo Space Jason's Motivation: Globally, the rate of su***de is alarmingly high, particularly in men. The best part of my job, being able to be a part of such an incredible, life changing experience makes it all worthwhile. Top marks must go to my client though, he put in the real work and deserves every bit of his success. Well done champion 💪🏼

Timeline photos 10/09/2018

Today is a day that we talk about prevention but we also talk about action.
The World Health Organisation estimates that over 80,000 people die by su***de each year - that’s one person every 40 seconds that we are losing unnecessarily. Australia alone looses more than 2,800 people every year.
Today is World Su***de Prevention Day and today is about connecting and speaking up.
Make today that day you reach out to a friend or family member, no matter where in the world they are and ask how they are.
How’s things going?
How’s life?
How are YOU?
Additionally, if you are struggling, make this day the day you reach out for yourself and ask for help. Is only a phone call away 13 11 14.
The more we all speak up and reach out, the more easy it will become for others to do if we lead by example.
Wear the message.
Share the message.
Speak the message.
It Ain’t Weak To Speak.
