Be salty, shine like the summer solstice!!!. —I love how God is always consistently inconsistent. I know that I never know what to expect. He always does beyond what I can ask or imagine. 🧠 For instance, these elephant ear plants that I received a long time ago as a start from a friend have now multiplied, and multiplied over the years. 🌱 🪴 Last winter for the first time ever, I decided to winterize them and looked up videos on how to properly do that, but was unable, come spring to find any videos on how to de-winterize them.
~So I improvised. And shockingly the broken root parts I had just stuck in the ground, wondering if perhaps they would sprout are much more healthy than the ones that always looked promising to grow healthy leaves. So the ones that looked healthy from the beginning are actually producing less leaves than the dead shriveled ones that I had considered many times throwing out. They are now much more fruitful. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
As if the breaking them caused more abundant growth. So often it is the HARD times, when we feel broken -that we grow. 🌲 Yesterday was the summer solstice where we experienced the longest day of sunlight ☀️ . I hope you grow extra fruitful where you have been cracked in times past. Leave 🍃 (leaf)the past, search for the sunlight and grow. Happy belated first day of summer and happy belated summer solstice too. ☀️ ☀️

“Poppy, the Man, the Myth, the Bad Influence” or at least that is what the t-shirt we made for his birthday says. Happy, happy,happy belated bday to the best dad and grandfather! All the grandkids took offense to it saying “bad influence” and didn’t get the joke. We adults know that part of him being the best Poppy ever is that he never says -NO-to them, hence he’s a bad influence. But we all could not love Christy Barton any more if we tried!

The weather channel said dress for the mid 70s today.

This year for my birthday my husband got a cake with my name on it, which was a big deal for me!!! I don’t think he had any idea how much it meant to me. I know, it seems like a small thing to most people but if you have a birthday around Christmas you might understand. Because my bday is on January 2, I used to joke that by then everyone was broke, sick of parties and perhaps still hung over from New Years. Birthdays weren’t a huge hoopla in my house growing up so I am not one who has a bday month-in which you do everything they want since it’s “almost” their birthday. But if that’s you…go for it! It’s somebodies birthday somewhere so celebrate!!!

Great day to be outside playing all these games at Midway Golf & Games. Found out that my youngest is super competitive at Jenga.

Laughter is good medicine and so is the always amazing food at Murrys.

By far the coolest church building I have ever been in which used to be an indoor swimming pool in 1800’s. Come check out Restoration Church in St. Joseph MO. I love how the name of their church is exactly what their building is… restored. Lord help us be restored and transformed into something beyond we can ask for or imagine.
