Hi everyone! The dance is this coming Tuesday 6/15/21. I have the $75 dues from the majority of those whose kids plan to attend but if you have not yet paid your $75 and your child would like to attend the dance please contact me via text ASAP at 201-704-6168 to arrange payment and to get the evite if you have not. I know several kids have changed to a yes because of lowered COVID numbers and we want to have as many of our grads as possible celebrating with their class!

A few families have asked if there is anything they can do to help us for end-of-year activities -- I have a few donation requests!

1. If there is still any confusion there are two end of year events.

One is the eighth grade parent sponsored dance. That is 6/15/2021 at Biagio’s from 6-10. That is a regular school dance type of event (but NOT run by the school) which means no parents or families attend. The evite for that is attached. It is $75 and if you previously paid $75 to me there is no need to pay again. I am not permitted to publish a list of those who have paid the dance dues (which would make my life easier lol) because the last time we did we received a warning not to do so. If you are TRULY unsure whether you paid please contact [email protected] but try not to do that unless you really don’t know 🙂

The other event is the graduation luncheon which is also run by parents but not by me. For questions about that you should contact Helen Karounos or Danielle Petruzzella. That’s right after graduation and families do attend that event.

Good morning everyone,

After yesterday's email from the school we just wanted to clarify a few things:

1. Dance. The parent-sponsored dance is the event that we have been emailing/posting/etc for the past few months. It is June 15 at Biagio's from 6-10pm. I believe we will be sending out an Evite in the next few days to minimize confusion for those who have been asking. This isn't normally done but as we all know this is not a normal year.

If your child wants to attend the dance please make sure that you paid your $75 class dues. If you did not pay, you can contact us via this email or text me directly at 201-704-6168. I am sure some of you are tired of seeing this message but every time we post or email about it there are people who have not seen it before 🙂

2. Lawn Signs. In April we sold lawn signs. I ordered these signs and they will be in by Memorial Day. We will send an email when they are in to facilitate pickup. These are separate from the signs that the school is ordering. Although the sale has concluded, I did just add one on to the order yesterday so if you didn't see this info previously let me know and we can try to accommodate.

3. Pool Day - We (parents, without assistance from the school) are in the process of trying to schedule a pool day. If/when we have more info we will let you know. It would likely be in mid-late June before school ends, during the afternoon right after school. This would be entirely parent-sponsored.

4. Graduation: We have nothing to do with graduation plans and do not know whether the three graduation formats are intended for all students or whether students will pick one. I assume more information will be forthcoming from the school.

5. Additional donations: If you wish to donate additional funds towards any of these activities please contact me to coordinate. We are so appreciative of generous donations we have received to offset the cost of signs, extra dance dues, etc.

Hi Class of 2021 families! It’s almost May and that means we are getting closer to our parent-sponsored Class of 2021 Dance - June 15, 2021, 6-10pm at the Terrace at Biagio’s 💃🏻

Dress code for the dance is semi-formal —generally short dresses for the girls, suits for the boys 👗 👔

COVID Restrictions are being gradually lifted across NJ. With some safety precautions and following the state’s guidance we are very excited to be able to give our eighth graders a fun send off as they prepare to enter high school in the fall.

If you haven’t yet paid your $75 class dues, please do so ASAP by check (made out to cash) or via Venmo -desantis-2.

If financial constraints are preventing you from paying the dues but your child does want to attend the dance PLEASE reach out directly to me at [email protected] as several generous families have donated extra dues money in light of the current circumstances. Of course any conversations in this vein will be kept 100% confidential.

Hi everyone! There have been some questions about the dance. As we said in the email a few weeks ago it is June 15 from 6-10 at The Terrace at Biagio’s. The $75 dues that most of you have already paid will go primarily towards the dance. If you paid dues and DO NOT intend your child to go to the dance, please let us know via email [email protected]

The emails you have received about the graduation luncheon at Seasons are a separate event. This is paid separately, organized separately, and invitations will go out for this.

We are trying to minimize the amount of RSVP-ing and emailing and paperwork everyone has to do. If you have questions about anything 8th grade - please send them to the [email protected] email and I will forward them to the correct person.

Hello 8th Grade Families!!

As you know we are still uncertain about the traditional 8th grade activities because the district cannot permit anything at this time; however, in light of the vaccine coming out soon and maybe with a little too much optimism we are planning to at the very least do the dance for the kids in some form (if it has to be outdoors only, if it has to be somewhere different than normal, etc.)

We are concerned about safety as well and obviously nothing that we do for the kids will be mandatory so anyone who feels like it's not safe once we get to the end of the year does not need to participate.

We will be collecting the normal dues amount of $75, which will go towards an end of the year dance for the kids and some class gifts. In the past they have done things like PHS Class of '25 sweatshirt, t-shirt, water bottle, phone charger, etc.

If we are not able to have a dance, we will most likely use the money for additional class gifts. If you would prefer a refund of the dues for any reason, we can do that; however, your child will then not receive any class gifts that are produced. Unused money can also be carried through with the class funds to eventually be used senior year. Obviously if your child is not planning to attend PHS that is a separate issue which we can address individually.

You can send your $75 dues in at any time, as a check payable to "West Brook 8th Grade" to me (Lisa DeSantis) at 37 Diaz Place. You can send or drop them off. If you'd like to make alternate payment arrangements please contact me at this email.

Because the school/district is not involved with these plans, I am asking that you please DO NOT send your dues to school or contact them with questions. All questions about the dues and the dance should be addressed directly to one of us, preferably at this email.

Hi everyone! Great news from our clothing drive and pajama pants sale - over $3500 raised for our class between the two events! We have another clothing drive planned for the spring and again if anyone has any other fundraising ideas please let us know.

End of the year events are still very much up in the air and the school doesn’t want to commit to anything.

Normally we would have collected dues from each family by this time to defray the cost of the dance and other activities, but we were told not to do so until we are more certain as to whether events will take place because of the potential to have to refund everyone, particularly those whose children are planning on going to high schools other than PHS.

West Brook Class of 2021 is sponsoring a fundraiser - Paramus Spartans neck gaiters! If you don’t know what a neck gaiter is, pictures are below. They are normally used for hiking, mountain biking, etc but can be used as face coverings/masks for kids or adults. Perfect for your kids to wear, easier than a mask, doesn’t hurt their ears. Also great for sports parents or anyone who would like to show their Paramus pride.

PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE NOT MEDICAL GRADE MASKS AND WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THEY ARE EFFECTIVE AGAINST TRANSMISSION OF COVID-19 OR ANY OTHER VIRUS.

The gaiters are $10 each and you can choose

Hi West Brook Class of 2021 Parents! Hope you are all safe and well at this crazy time. I’m sure you’re all counting down the days until this school year is over - hard to believe our kids will be starting their last year at West Brook in September.
