ATT: OPEN LETTER
The barbaric and cruel nature 0f communication at the university of Zimbabwe is deepening and sickening.
It's uncalled for and with immediate effect the administration should nullify the accepted students make a notice and give each student an equal chance of application to rez and knowledge of when, how and how long they are to stay on campus.
As the student representatives we were silent watching but not anymore, the compulsory imposition of the 50usd gown with the current economic complications is an unconstitutional decision we denounce and require a favorable and more adjustable service with student consciousness in mind, it's not a threat or an ultimatum but rather a decision by the students for the students, are the UZ gowns coated in gold that they can be sold after 24hrs of graduation?. The continued silence and lack of communication from the information department is sickening and going into the the future we require closure of the department because it is of no use.
The respective falcuties that are expected on campus and further information will be made available by the SRC thru consultation of the Dean's of falcuties
Yours comradely
SRC Presidium
LETS SUPPORT FELLOW students
"In every crisis, doubt or confusion, take the higher path -the path of compassion, courage, understanding and love."
Covid -19 is real, we all have a part to play , it might not kill you but it can kill someone just because you were careless to observe some costless measures, let us all play our role , it doesnt kill me to talk to my friends when we are all one metre apart , let's be strict on social distancing , we all came from different homes and not everyone with covid will develop symptoms, let us not put ourselves and those around us in danger. Let us not be ignorant , just because it will not kill you , doesnt mean you should be reckless. It's never right to move around without a mask which is not properly worn, always make sure your mask is covering you nose, mouth and chin. Remove your mask only when its is necessary. Always wash your hands with soap and running water or use hand sanitizer. You don't need to be forced to observe social distancing, wear a face mask correctly, wash you hands and to observe other measures to prevent the spread of covid, but you just need your brain to tell you that you should do the correct things always. There is no shame in doing something which is right, you should actually take pride from it.
There is a pseudo message circulating on WhatsApp about interez. Please note that there are no such developments.
safe
mask always
social distance
Good day
Please note that accommodation window is open for all part 2 students and you are all encouraged to apply
We would like to thank our Madam President Muzvare Abiona Mataranyika for the job well done. In this tough time she managed to organize subsidised affordable buses to ferry students from across the country to UZ without hustle. Thank you so much for the motherly spirit President.
Today we are expecting those writing exams from 6 to 10 July. If their exams overlap to next cohort, they will extend their stay.
Good day ladies and gentlemen. If you applied for accommodation please check the website for your name and residence. All those who applied for accommodation have been assisted.
Proceed to pay and check in by end of day on Sunday, 28 June 2020. All students on Batch 2 on the website have until 1300hrs on Monday, 29 June to pay and check in. Vacant spaces will be given away thereafter.
Thanks.
Hello colleagues!
In line with the opening of schools for exams, there are new developments that other final year students like 3.1 are going to be opening mid July hence, they will not be checking in this sunday but rather on 10 July 2020. But for those that share exams with other final year classes that are coming this Sunday you can as well come on Sunday.
All those who successfully got accommodation you are encouraged to make sure that you pay up your rez fee by 27 July 2020 otherwise it will be revoked. As for the part 3.1 that are coming mid July, you can as well pay now but check in when your cohort comes in mid-July.
Stay blessed!
Safe travels!

DEAR COLLEAGUES!
Following the announcement of the reopening of schools for academic exams, please note that dates have not been changed and everyone is advised to be in REZ although it is not compulsory.
The Rez fee will be $75rtgs per day including meals , that is for those who were not in rez, as for those who were already in rez will just go back to their old rooms.
UZ Students Representative Council is very disappointed with the Administration for failing to distribute the data they promised on time, and today marks the second week since E-learning started and from the response they gave us, they were saying they have submitted your numbers to the different service providers. With the the little time left for us to write exams ,we hope for the best.
In the meantime we are encouraging class reps to talk to their lecturers so that they can use WhatsApp until students receive their data.
There is an e-mail that was designed for students to send their challenges but most of the students have been complaining that the administration is not responding, so as the SRC ,yesterday we talked to the IT department and they assured us that your emails will be responded to As soon as possible.
The SRC president Muzvare Abiona would like to urge you all to be each other's keeper , always look out for each other and to make sure everyone is in touch with their lecturers and give them information on what's happening if they are not able to be online everydat. This is the time we need to stand with each other.

UZ SRC Pres Confronts Admin on E-Learning - The President of the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) Student Representative Council (SRC), Abiona Matara
Given the recent appearance and circulation of a web portal purpoting to be a University of Zimbabwe Online Portal, it is obligatory that the Students body shed more light on this before panic spreads across the divide.
First and foremost, the Portal is *Fake*, no such development has been undertaken by the administration, and the circulating website is a hoax created by rowdy elements who wishes to unsettle the students.
The school remains closed and this isn't a physical aspect only as it transcends to other activities related to school business up until a time when we're advised that it's safe to resume operations.
Any developments brought forward will be communicated to the Students through formal channels, and not grapevine so you are all advised to surf information before consuming it in.
Stay Safe
Thank you all for attending the color Splash

Have a Good day
Today as the UZ SRC we attended the parliamentary portfolio Committee under the Ministry of Higher and tertiary education which was held at the Parliament of Zimbabwe.
It was premised on the promotion of Sustainable development goal number 4 which emphasises on quality and accesible education .
The major thematic areas were:
1 ) The Affordability of education and how it affects the inclusivity of education.
2) Evaluating the status quo and objectively assessing the progress of this pursuit in Zimbabwe.
At the top of our agenda was expressing our concerns about the plight of the students.
Amongst the issues brought up were; increased number of deffering students, decrease in quality of education, student loan ineffectiveness and the drastic measures students are now taking to make ends meet.
As student leaders we expressed the point that the unjustified tuition fee hikes are an assault on the students right to access quality education . They are at worst a compromise of the pursuit of inclusive education in Zimababwe as they systematically push out poor students from school through financial means . Hence we submitted the proposition that the budget should be reviewed and the amounts allocated to Higher and tertiary education be reviewed as a means to capacitate the sector . We made it clear that students can not keep on compensating for the deficits and shortages made by the Ministry and government . The government has to be sensitive and realistic.
Our submitions and recomendation will be compiled and presented before parliament this week .
