An Address delivered by me to my political supporters, In Minna earlier today 05 May, 2022
Hausa version of my Sallah message to all Nigerlites.
Assalamualaikum Waramatullahi ta Allah wabarakatuhu.
I Ibrahim Bako Bagudu Shettima, APC Governorship Aspirant for the 2023 election here by felicitate with the people of Niger state for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast of 2022, which concise with 1443 in the Hijrah calendar.
As we complete this ibadah, I look forward to a successful eid fitr, we pray to Allah subahana wataAllah to give us peace in the land, not only in Niger state, but in Nigeria as a whole.
On this note, I say happy Eid fitr and barka da Sallah to all Nigerlites.

Ibrahim Bako Bagudu Shettima or Bako Shettima as he is popularly called was born on the 10th of January 1957. He is an indigene of Bida in Bida local government area of Niger State. He began his education pursuit at Kofar Eyagi Primary school from January 1967 to December 1970 and then proceeded to Government College Bida from January 1971 to June 1975 for his secondary school certificate. He attained his first and second degree in economics in 1982 and 1987 respectively both from the University of Jos.
Bako Shettima is a seasoned economist with several ivy league trainings which includes βFinancial Programming and Policyβ IMF Institute, Washington DC from October to December of 1993, βInternational Seminar on Takaful [Islamic Insurance]β at the Central Bank of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998 from March to April, βThe Practice of trade Policy: Economics, Rules and Negotiations, Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA from September to October 2004, in March 2006, βPolicy Challenges for African central banksβ in the Bank of England, London UK.
To his credit are also several newspaper publications Ibrahim Bako Bagudu Shettima was in the public sector from 1983 to 2008. He was a lecturer at Federal Polytechnic Bida from 1985 to 1988. He was Special Assistant to Deputy Governor, General Administration Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] from December of 1988 May of 1999, Special Assistant to Deputy Governor, Operations CBN from June to November 1999, Deputy Director Trade and Exchange Department CBN from 2003 to 2008. He is presently the Federal Commissioner, representing Niger state Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission(RMAFC).
After over 2 decades of meritorious service in the public sector, Ibrahim Bako Bagudu Shettima moved into the private sector. He became the Director of Research, Digital Consult Limited from January 2009 to June 2012. He was one of the members of a four-man team of consultants that developed the 2017-2019 strategic plan for the Nigeriaβs Governorβs Forum.
Here is a man who believes that everything worth doing is worth doing well. As an entrepreneur, the Shettiman Nupe has attended seminars all over the world, from the βWest African Investment Forumβ in Abuja, Nigeria to βOil Price Assessment Methodologyβ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to βInternational Shea Butter Conventionβ in Atlanta, Georgia, USA to mention but a few. This is all in a bid to make him as good a businessman as he can be.
His political career began when he became a registered member of the now dissolved Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2010. In January, 2011, he was nominated and emerged the runner up in the Niger State gubernatorial elections. Since then, he has held several key positions within the party, from its days as CPC till its merger with other political parties that now make up the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC). He was a member of the CPC renewal committee from 2012 to 2013. In March of 2013, he was a member of a CPC high powered committee on FCT local government elections. That same year, he became chairman, CPC committee on βStrategy for Successful Merger of Opposition Parties in Niger State. After the successful merger, Ibrahim Bako Bagudu Shettima became the chairman, State Interim Executive Council(SIEC) of the newly formed APC. He was a member of the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC for the 2015 general elections in the North Central Zone from January to April. From April to May of the same year, he was secretary, Niger State APC transition committee.
Ibrahim Bako Bagudu Shettima is a man loved and respected by many. A gentleman in every sense of the word. A man so down to earth who never forgets his humble beginnings. His years of experience in both the public and private sectors indeed left him equipped for whatever life might throw at him.
As APC membership revalidation and registration is ongoing across Niger state, Alhaji Bako Shettima urge all Nigerlites to come out enmass and be part of this exercise.
