A brief word on each song on my latest album 'Midnight in America' (available on bandcamp now ~ link below!) ~ #1 'Jericho Rose' ~ written in direct anticipation of working with Joe Chester who produced this album. Joe & I had been touring together for two years prior to this recording, I love his musicality and was exited to work with him so sat down and wrote this in a bedroom in Ditmas Park with no view to speak of save a King Charles Spaniel called Chip who I happened to be dog-sitting, perched on the windowsill. Chip & I went on a walk that I wrote a poem about (posted in comments below) which contains the seeds for many of the themes explored on the album.

I've a new album coming up on Bandcamp on Friday - this is the first song on it. Recorded by Joe Chester in France at the end of the last decade & written in Brooklyn in a strange, swirling space after the passing of my grandfather and before the birth of my son. I'll post more on each song after the album is up - I hope you enjoy it

Heading south down the east coast on a beautiful morning - opening up for James Maddock (reflected, in red) at the Musician in Leicester tonight
So excited to be opening for my old friend James Maddock in Edinburgh on the 8th of June at the Voodoo Rooms. If you’re in town or thereabouts come along! (tix in the post below). I’ve even managed to persuade Edinburgh based guitar legend Rab Howat to join me for a few tunes. Can’t wait!

Looking forward to playing a new song at the The Bushwick Book Club tonight. This months book is 'The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo' by Amy Schumer. We songwriters are tasked with reading the book then writing a song inspired by it. My song is called 'Astronaut Ice Cream (Tears of a Clown)'. Show starts at 7:30pm and I believe there will be food!
Thank you to all who came to the Rockwood last night. It was great to see you and I had a wonderful time playing x
I'll be playing solo at Rockwood 3 tonight if you're about! 10:30pm

The Only Ones - Jam - August 2004. John Perry & Freddie Stevenson
John Perry taught me how to play, damn him. And a huge amount about how to write. Here's a vid of him doing it. Such a beautiful melody from the Only Ones song. I'm as green as goosesh*t in this video http://bit.ly/2rlscPm
Whole of Law & No Peace for Wicked
My two favorite guitar players in the world are John Perry & Rab Howatt & I will carve that in stone.
