Mahalo nui loa to Hawai‘i Interscholastic Athletic Directors Association, who donated more than 100 backpacks to our Lihu‘e (and shared with West Kauai and Kapaa) Clubhouse members. Community contributions like these ensure our keiki—from elementary through high school—are prepared to start the new school year strong in August. Learn more about how you can make a difference in a child’s life at the link in our bio. Photos are courtesy of Dennis Fujimoto and The Garden Island.

Day 2 of Summer at the Clubhouse.
Brain Gain Activity: sensory painting for defining emotions with the use of color wheel and paint. This activity helped the member recognize their emotions.
Art & Crafts: Our elementary members made a lady bug with either a cotton ball or canvas paper inspired from the show “Miraculous Lady Bug”. Our teen members on the other hand got to paint on a frame.

“All I want is a chance”

BGCH Team – these words are said, thought, and/or cried by children in need. A chance, a path, a step in the right direction for happiness in life. Without chance – a life of chaos and harm. Isn’t this what our organization does every day, every hour, every minute for those in need - Give kids a chance.

Now a slight deviation … This morning I ask you to give family, friends, and colleagues a chance to help the 16,000 kids we serve and the other 10,000 we should aspire to serve. Yes, asking people to give can be awkward, but remove your apprehension … a mindset of “simply giving others a chance to help kids” can greatly take away “the ask” anxiety. I suggest you eliminate any and all expectations on others, or hold judgements; just simply give others a chance to help kids. If your ask hits them at a time and place where it makes sense, they might act. That’s all.

“People may want a chance” … Please give it to them.

Today and over the weekend - please send your Great Futures Day asks to your family, friends, and colleagues and give them the chance to help the children of Hawaii.
