The Bigfoot Octo Puss is a mini passive octave-up guitar effects pedal with high performance modern components.

How does it sound?

Our octave up generator utilises germanium diodes for authentic vintage tones. We then combine them with a premium studio quality audio transformer to provide far better frequency response and tracking than any other analogue octave pedal on the market.

Unique features

This pedal doesn't require a power supply or battery as the circuit is completely passive, and the mini footprint is ideal for small pedalboards. In addition, it can uniquely track chords far more accurately than other octave-up effects pedals.

Applications

This is perfect tool for adding the classic octave-up effect to your palette, providing far greater tonal versatility than a vintage fuzz-octave pedal.

The Life Pedal V3 circuit has been meticulously tweaked from the original to squeeze every last drop of heavy crushing tone available. The octave section has been fine tuned to make it more pronounced without losing the bottom end and we added a third footswitch, utilizing Flexi Switch Technology, for the octave to allow an additional method of quick and radical tone shaping. We are excited to have this back in permanent production, it is a true labor of love.

Life Pedal V3 is a distortion with a blendable analog octave up and a booster combined in one compact package. The “Amplitude” side is faithfully modeled after the classic “White Face” distortion unit, using modern, reliable components to last a lifetime. The only modifications made to the original circuit are in the clipping section. The traditional circuit uses a single pair of silicon diodes for a tight, compressed crunch.

As with version 2, Life Pedal V3 offers two additional clipping options to better adapt to different rigs. The first position is no diodes to allow for full, grinding Op Amp assault at maximum volume. The second position utilizes two silicon diodes and one LED in an asymmetrical clipping configuration. This delivers a slightly compressed and smooth crunch, similar to a valve amplifier. The last position is the stock double silicon diode configuration which provides that classic tone you know and love.

Who Is It For?
For the gigging musician who is looking for a world-class wah, that really optimises space on your board and provides a diverse range of wah voices.

The Getaway Driver is an amp-in-a-box type pedal with just three dials – Volume, Bite (tone) and Gain. While the pedal adds its vintage vibe on all amplifiers, it really excels when used with the amplifier’s clean channel, even ones with a bright cap. It also makes a great clean boost, with low Gain and high Volume pushing amps over the edge into classic overdrive.

The gain structure is produced using single-ended JFET circuitry running in Class A, just like a valve amp. The input buffer, output buffer and Cab Sim are handled using op-amps, using a charge pump to give 18v of headroom.

The pedal features the same transparent, buffered output used on the Orange Two Stroke and Kongpressor pedals. While the second output is a buffered Cab Sim/headphone amp which can also work into a PA (via a DI box) or directly into a recording interface. The first output is transparent when bypassed, however, when using the second output, the Cab Sim remains engaged. This means that the Getaway Driver can be used as just a Cab Sim on its own if needed.

The voicing and gain structure of this pedal is based on a cranked modded ’70s valve amp. The gain structure JFETs are running single-ended Class A. Running at 9 Volts, the pedal will have the character of EL84 valves, whereas 12 Volts will give an EL34 flavour. Use a regulated 9-12V DC centre-negative power supply.

The DOD Overdrive Plus FX50B may be derived from the well-loved 250 Overdrive Preamp and the original FX50 Overdrive Preamp, but the FX50B has a power all its own, taking you into higher gain territory than ever before. This preamplifier distorts your input signal and sustains your notes for a heavily overdriven sound and more upper range distortion. Though it went out of production in 1998, the DOD Overdrive Plus FX50B is a great, inexpensive pedal to add to your tonal library.

The pedal’s based on a design from veteran pedal builder Paul Cochrane that’s widely celebrated among high level pros, from first-call Nashville player Kenny Greenberg to first-call L.A. player Lyle Workman to rockstar Brad Whitford. When Paul decided to bring his pedal to a wider audience, he chose to work with the MXR design team. “It’s an honor to work with MXR,” Paul says. “My first ever pedal was a Phase 90.”

Thanks to Paul’s inventive implementation of clipping options and tone controls, the Timmy Overdrive is a dream come true for working guitar players. The Clip switch provides three different clipping styles for a multitude of scenarios, whether you need a big, bold always-on sound with a ton of headroom to slam the front end of your amp, a more compressed and saturated sound for fat chords, or anything in between. The Bass and Treble controls offer further refinement in two key ways. First, they’re cut-only, keeping your signal’s character intact while making it super easy to dial in a clean boost. As the name implies, the M**f War is a Big M**f, based on those elusive early 90s Civil War Sovtek Big M**fs. It’s got huge ballsy character, with lots of low end and silky smooth gain. A lot of people think they’ve never heard of Brent Mason. We would bet that although they may not recognize the name, chances are huge that they have heard him. Brent is, without doubt, the number 1 session guitarist working out of Nashville and has been since the early 1990’s. Not only is he a legendary studio figure, but also a renowned composer and songwriter. His compositions have been used in countless films, TV shows and commercials. His solo albums, in particular “Hot Wired” (from which this pedal got its name) has become almost mythical in its reputation for guitar tone and quality of musicianship. With Brent, you will not believe it until you hear it.

Built on the foundations of the extremely popular v1, v2 stands alone in terms of versatility. The studio scene in Nashville has changed over the last few years, so we changed the Hot Wired to mirror the industry Brent works in. v1 was geared towards all out chickin’ pickin’ and beyond. Expanding on that, the v2 brings you a broader range of subtlety in channel 1. You can still find the chickin’ pickin’ tones, but you can also find a deeper, warmer overdrive section that will allow you to play as smooth as you like. With the added blend control, you won’t believe how fat your tone can be without it sounding too overdriven. Channel 2 still has the same “British Plexi” flavor that Brent loves.
