They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allaah is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with Allah - Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.
[Surah Al-Ma'idah 72]

Alhamdu Lillaah.... The kids are learning 🌷

If a person (in fact a Muslim herein referred to) bears Polytheistic Beliefs; such that he calls upon others besides Allaah, like the dead, the pious ones, the in-grave; or he relies upon these "deities", seeking from them in urgent situations, or even looks up to them for help or protection. Or if he is found of wearing amulats such as those hanged any part of the body including such mambo-jumbo rings bungles, stringe, and so on.

In this case, his fate in the face of the Shariah rests on two: if the ruling is applied to him or not.

And if the ruling is applied by the scholars to him, and evidence is presented to him, and every apparent confusion cleared, yet he refused to repent, and continues to grossly uphold such Polytheistic Beliefs, then his case is a Charge of Excommunication/Appostasy. If he dies in this state, he is not to be given funeral procession: not to prayed on (Salaatul-Janaazah), not to be washed or shrouded, and as well not to be buried in Muslims graveyard.

However, if the ruling is not presented to him, and he dies in that state, then he died as a Muslim, but a heretical diviant one. This is on the condition that he is not "enlightened" person such as a scholar or student of knowledge etc. Otherwise, he must similarly be treated as one who died grossfully believing in Polytheistic Beliefs.

May Allaah guide us.

Consensually, the scholars have declared as appostate one who takes Intermediaries between him and Allaah, making duaa in their essence, seeking intercession from them, and relying upon them for good and protection against evil.

Here is a very simple concised explanation of maqaasid (ultimate goals) of Islamic Law....

Introduce the correct Creed to our kids;
Save them from Shirk;
Warn them against Bidah.

O Allaah! Guide these kids, and make them better Muslims than us. Let them grow to upload your Religion in sincerity, revive the Sunnah of your Prophet SAW that is apparently lost.

If a human (in fact a Muslim) dies, his deeds come to abrupt except just three:
👉except unending charity left behind, or
👉 beneficial knowledge bequeath, or
👉 good child that survives the deceased such that he can supplicate for Allaah's mercy and forgiveness for him.

أُعُـوذُ بِكَلِـماتِ اللهِ التّـامَّة، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْـطانٍ وَهـامَّة، وَمِنْ كُـلِّ عَـيْنٍ لامَّـة

I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from every envious blameworthy eye.

The Prophet SAW used to seek Refuge with Allaah using this dua.

Recommended to be repeated thrice both in morning as well as evening]
