Creative Career Expo 2024 through my eyes (and lens) ✨ Can’t wait for next year’s staging!

7-9.2.2024 The Healthy Caribbean Coalition (HCC)/Healthy Caribbean Youth (HCY) in partnership with the Jamaica Youth Advocacy Network (JYAN), the Heart Foundation of Jamaica (HFJ), the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados (HSFB) and UNICEF Jamaica hosted their first regional youth meeting: “Caribbean Youth Voices in Health Advocacy Spaces - Healthy Food Policy Action.” Here’s a recap of the experience from my perspective✨ #nutrition #healthyfoodpolicies

Looking back on 2023, it’s wild how much I’ve changed. This is the first time I’ve even had enough going on to make a recap 😂 I’ve done a lot of reflection, eventually leading me to conclude that I’ve truly grown as a person, and that I have a lot to be proud of. This year, I’ve been the loudest version of myself to date! In January, I had chosen to unapologetically be myself and step out of my comfort zone to help and uplift others. That decision led to so many opportunities and new relationships…it’s a bit overwhelming to think about. To my friends, and those of you who follow my journey, thank you so much for your love and support! My year has been filled with smiles because of the courage and inspiration I’ve gained from others. I know everyone reading this will make a positive impact next year in their own unique way. My word of the year was “progress”, and nothing makes me prouder than realizing I have lived by it in every waking moment. - Natalia 💙

The importance of MINDSET: At last year’s Student Award Ceremony, I was the proud recipient of the Leadership Award. However, I was just a few points away from meeting the academic award criteria of a 3.67 GPA (mine was 3.62 at the time). I sat, and I listened, and I watched every student collect their awards, and as I saw my friend Jaiye collect hers, I said to myself, “next year I will collect one with her”…next year came, and I did. I’m grateful Ashawne and I got to share this brief message, because all it takes is a commitment and change in mindset to achieve great things! 💙💛

I girlboss and look really cute doing it too!💕✨

As a dedicated youth advocate with the Jamaica Youth Advocacy Network (JYAN), I’m humbled to have participated in public commentary and discourse, focusing on recommendations aimed at enhancing the mental health services and support our youth deserve. The power of collective voices in shaping a brighter future is truly inspiring. #YouthAdvocacy #MentalHealthMatters #JYAN

I’m grateful for the opportunity to shed light on critical barriers to mental health access in Jamaica and offer recommendations to our key stakeholders on the path forward. This is just a glimpse of my experience at the 2023 UNICEF x JYAN Youth Mental Health Summit. Together, let’s create a brighter, healthier future for all! 🇯🇲💚 #MentalHealthAdvocacy #JamaicaMentalHealth #OnMyMindJA

Youth advocacy is one of the most rewarding things a young person can utilize their time to do. Not only do you take joy in making an impact and giving, but you also receive an abundance of life lessons and opportunities! 🇯🇲💕 #youthadvocate

I’m proud to share that I’ll be partnering with @letsunpackitco and @unicefeca as a National Mental Health Focal Point! 🧠🇯🇲 On October 10, we celebrated World Mental Health Day under the theme, ‘Mental Health is a Universal Human Right.’ This marks the beginning of our month-long campaign, ‘My Mental Health, My Right.’ To me, this year’s theme highlights that each of us, regardless of our background, deserves good mental health. It’s as crucial as any other right we possess. Let’s continue to advocate for a world where everyone’s mental well-being is valued. 💚✨ #MentalHealthIsMyRight #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #unicef #letsunpackitco

Here’s my recap of summer achievements. I figured I’d start sharing these moments with you guys❤️ #studentleaders #jamaica
