Waterfalls: Paul Dimalanta 17/01/2022

Transport yourself to a place of calm and respite from the drudgeries and gray confines of our isolation. Let Paul Dimalanta take you on a scenic route through his tapestries of refreshing vistas that soothe and sate our longing for sights and sounds beyond. Art Circle Gallery presents an artistic excursion in this exhibition, a visual meandering through Dimalanta’s waterfalls.

Artistic nature
Dimalanta’s childhood was spent surrounded by greenery all around him in Calauag, Quezon and grew up emulating the silent and steady growth of trees and the shaping forces of rivers, both in his life and in his works. Such deep attunement to nature can only come from a life’s worth of immersion and appreciation of it.

Images you can hear
The gentle rustling of leaves; the morning sun peeking through the gaps of trees; the sound of a babbling brook nearby – Dimalanta is a master at bringing out the ambient mood of a trek to a stream or a quiet nature walk to his canvas. He invokes a magical, impressionistic quality to his paintings that breathes life and dynamism to the overall piece.

Paul Dimalanta’s visual chronicle of an idyllic countryside is a clean and fresh break from the structured and artificial edifices we are confined and inexorably trapped in. His ‘off the beaten path’ aesthetic and approach to his art is what makes for a scenic and artistic retreat for the eyes and the soul.
