PNA Urges Quick Distribution of Health Emergency Allowance to Nurses
At the Senate Committee on Health hearing on May 20, 2024, led by Sen. Christopher Lawrence "B**g" Go, the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), represented by National President Dr. Elmer D. Bondoc and National Treasurer Dr. Gloria G. Yang, called for the expedited distribution of the delayed Health Emergency Allowance (HEA) to nurses. The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has transferred 19.9 billion pesos for the 2024 HEA to the Department of Health (DOH), with plans to allocate the remaining 27.7 billion pesos for 2025. The DOH has compiled a database of HEA recipients, which will be accessible to regional offices and available on the DOH website by month's end. The PNA is committed to helping eligible nurses claim their HEA, with all chapters ensuring prompt distribution once the DOH provides the master list.

Join us in advocating for fair wages for nurses. Despite their dedication and sacrifices, many healthcare professionals in the Philippines are underpaid. Let's address this critical issue together and ensure that our nurses receive the compensation they deserve. Together, let's support our healthcare heroes with more than just words of praise—let's demand fair pay that reflects their invaluable service.
🚨 A Call for Change! 🚨 Imagine dedicating yourself to the care of 30 patients, enduring long hours beyond your shift, only to receive a monthly salary that barely meets your needs. This is the reality for Nurse Jun, a symbol of the countless healthcare professionals in the Philippines who are celebrated as 'Heroes of Modern Times' but face the stark contradiction of undercompensation. While words of affirmation acknowledge their invaluable service, it's clear that praises alone cannot sustain a living. It's time to address this critical issue head-on and advocate for fair wages that truly reflect the dedication and sacrifice of our nurses. Let's join forces to support the real needs of our healthcare heroes.
