Praying Big and Bold Prayers for the Next Generations 25/08/2022

We all know the importance of praying for our kids. I just wanted to share an article from T78 (previously known as Children Desiring God) about praying big and bold prayers for the next generation. It is a very encouraging and challenging article. It is a short read- we encourage you to check it out!

Praying Big and Bold Prayers for the Next Generations How are you praying for the next generation? Over the past several months we are concentrating our prayers on the larger purposes of God for our children, our grandchildren, the children in our church, and the children we have the opportunity to teach--the kind of prayers that we are confident ali

Most of us take seriously the God-gven responsibility of being the primary disciplers of our own children. But, sometimes, some of us struggle with exactly how to go about it. Having times of family worship in the hoe throughout the week is one great way to pass our faith onto our children. But even with that, sometimes we struggle with how to go about that,
That is what 5iveAlone is here for. 5iveAlone is a website that you can download free family devotionals from. Check out the video to see what 5iveAlone does and if it can be a help to you as you seek to fulfill the mission given to you by God to actively pass your faith on to your own children.

The New City Catechism 22/08/2022

This is a link we shared last year, but we have actually talked to more than one parent for whom it was new.
It is for New City Catechism. It is a 52 catechism that is comprised of 52 questions and answers about what we believe as Christians and why we believe it.
We use it with our family worship and the kids love it. The app has songs that go with each question/answer that are quite catchy.
We really encourage you to check it our if you are looking for something to use during your family worship time!

The New City Catechism The New City Catechism is a modern-day resource aimed at helping children and adults alike learn the core doctrines of the Christian faith via 52 questions and answers.

Our theme verse for the week (and our memory verse for Sunday night) as we talk about what it means to KNOW Jesus, BE like Jesus, and DO like Jesus is going to be...
Philippians 3:8- "Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ."

7 Principles for Teaching Kids to Interpret the Bible 22/08/2019

None of us want to still be spoon-feeding our kids when they are 14 years old. By that time we justifiably expect they will be able to feed themselves. To this end we teach them how to use a plate and a spoon and a fork and a knife. We teach them table manners (whether they ever use them or not is another story altogether). We do what we need to in order to make sure they will be able to feed themselves well someday and not slop it all over themselves and others. What about feeding themselves the Word of God? Do we take as much time making sure the they will one day be able to proficiently feed themselves at the banquet that is the Word of God? The linked article gives some insight in how to begin to steer your child in the direction of being able to feed themselves.

7 Principles for Teaching Kids to Interpret the Bible Here are seven principles that should guide your efforts as you teach children to interpret the Bible.

Albums Archive - Sovereign Grace Music 22/08/2019

Some parents have asked where the songs we are singing in Base Camp for Seek Week come from. All of them except for God Suit are from Sovereign Grace Kids. Sovereign Grace Kids does an excellent job with God centered lyrics that point kids to God and His majesty and glory while using memorable and catchy music. They have several albums out. We really enjoy the Biblical centeredness of their songs that aren't mushy, watered-down or sentimental- they are solid songs that don't assume the ignorance or disinterest of children. During our family worship times we have a time of singing and these make excellent songs for the kids to sing as they reinforce the principles we are seeking to instill in our children about the God-centeredness of the Christian life.
If you are looking for great music that teaches children biblical principles and theology, check out Sovereign Grace Kids.

The Ology: Ancient Truths Ever New 22/08/2019

Another book we have made good use of in our family worship times is "The Ology". It is a great book that teaches children systematic theology through Han engaging story and beautiful illustrations. It really makes abstract theological foundations of our faith understandable for kids. In the front of the book are tips on how to make use of the book with different age groups.
There is also a music CD that goes with the book (although it is sold separately; available from Sovereign Grace: https://sovereigngracemusic.org/music/albums/the-ology/) that helps kids internalize and remember the truths you are teaching them through the book.
Our kids really enjoyed it and we have an age spread of almost 13 down to 5 years old so it is appropriate and beneficial for many ages.

The Ology: Ancient Truths Ever New A beginner's book of systematic theology in the form of a beautifully illustrated storybook for children ages 6 to 12 years. Through storytelling and illustrations, The Ology by Marty Machowski takes abstract theological concepts and makes them easier to understand. In the cellar of an old stone cath...
