🎃🍬 Tips for Managing Emotional Eating This Holiday Season 🍬🎃
The holidays are a joyful time but can also bring added stress – and lots of tempting treats! From Halloween candy to holiday feasts, it’s easy to turn to food for comfort. Here are some tips to help keep emotional eating in check:
1. Pause & Reflect: Are you truly hungry, or is something else at play? Use a hunger scale (1-10) to rate your hunger before you reach for that treat. Aim for a 5-6, where you’re neither too hungry nor too full.
2. Keep a Food Journal: Jot down not just what you eat but why you’re eating. Noticing emotional triggers can help you make healthier choices and find other ways to manage stress.
3. Find an Alternative Outlet: Try a quick walk, call a friend, or sip on water instead of reaching for a snack. A new habit can help soothe emotions without derailing your health goals.
4. Plan Ahead at Holiday Gatherings: Expect to see your favorite holiday foods and give yourself permission to enjoy in moderation. Having a plan can prevent overindulging.
5. Be Kind to Yourself: It’s okay to indulge a little – just remember to listen to your body. Self-compassion is key to navigating the season with a healthy mindset.
Wishing you all a mindful and joyful holiday season, where you find comfort in connections, not just food. 🌟

If you are caring for an aging loved one, you will want to have conversations about end-of-life care. But since any of us could get into an accident tomorrow, it's wise for all of us to have these conversations with family members. These discussions are often as much about living as they are about wishes concerning life support and dying. They can be rich and meaningful exchanges. Even light hearted ("What's on your bucket list?"). https://seniorthn.com/important-decisions/key-conversations/
🎃 Just as a pumpkin ripens over time, we too grow more enriched and vibrant with age.’ Age isn’t something to fear—it’s a time to celebrate the wisdom, experience, and richness that life brings.
