We got a break from the rain a couple weeks ago so I made a dash out to look for bobcats. I ran into and while chatting we spotted this bobcat a ways off. We couldn’t get too close to this cat but I really liked the layer of green and reddish grass behind it.
Last night's burn. When you live in San Francisco, you don't mind getting stuck in traffic after work.
Thanks to everyone who is following this page!! Sorry I haven't posted much here, but I found out after creating this page that facebook considers Pages to be businesses and as a result, they don't show the posts here to more than a handful of people. They want Pages to buy ads to promote their posts 🤦♂️. But I'm going to post here more to share to different FB groups, so if you do see a post here, more to come 🙂 Cheers and thanks!
I set off in late October for a quick two night backpack trip in the Sierra. This was a last ditch effort to photograph the milky way in the Sierra this season. As the date got closer it became clear that a storm was moving in for the second night of my trip. Normally I try to do the 6 hour drive to the East Side the day before I start hiking, but with the night time temps already in the 20's and expected to drop another 20 degrees with 40mph winds when the storm hit, I made a game time decision to drive down and hike in the same day. I would camp 2 nights in the backcountry and hike out before the storm. Going from sea level to 10,400 in about 8 hours was not as bad as I thought it would be. However I ended up getting to my first night's camp after sunset, too late to scout a good location for the milky way. Fortunately on my second night the sky was crystal clear and I was the only one camping at this beautiful lake.
A favorite spot to watch the sunset.
The Golden Gate Bridge peaking out from below the fog and sunrise. One of my favorite mornings at the bridge.

The view from one of my favorite campsites ever in Death Valley last fall.
A great sunset on Mt Tam. I "converted" this to an oil painting in photoshop and printed it 54"x36" on canvas for our bedroom wall, super happy with the result!
Yosemite at night, truly magical and crowd free 👍
That look when you've just had a really tasty gopher.
