DISNEYLAND PARIS - 25-29 OCTOBER 2021

So good to be back! We had a Magical time and our friends Spencer & Hayley really enjoyed their first visit to DLP. A few notes we made for our BTMH followers:

DLP now uses a single card system for hotel, dining and park entry. This made things much easier - no more bits of paper.

We did not use the new Premier Access system (formerly known as FastPass) on the popular attractions. The longest queue we had was 90 minutes for Crush. We spent an hour queuing for BTM & Tower of Terror but everything else was shorter - on average around 30 minutes.

The Parades have restarted but are shorter than normal with only a few floats and no dancers. Still no Fireworks due to the work on the castle but what is visible of the repaint looks terrific with more use of gold. Interestingly our friends noticed how much more vibrant the colours are in DLP compared to Florida. This was thanks to the programme of 2016 to prepare the park for the 25th anniversary celebrations; a pain at the time with all the ride closures it caused but I guess it proves it made a difference.

The Halloween decorations along Main Street were as amazing as ever with the Coco theme again dazzling Frontierland.

The only COVID-related thing we found puzzling was the need to show proof of vaccination every day in the hotel. We felt that was something that could have been done the once at check-in. Vaccination checks were also carried at security entering Disney Village and did cause some long queues. No complaints as this is necessary to check guests not staying on property, but again something that quickly proved you were vaccinated without the need to have a screengrab of your phone taken on a twice-daily basis would have been better.

All in all an amazing visit & as Magical as ever. We were pleased our friends enjoyed it and there is still more for them to see next time.

PARK APPS

There’s an app for everything in life and you probably already know there are apps for the parks. Check your app store for these. They’re free and provide access to park maps, wait times, show times & reservation booking tools, etc. Essential for a park visit nowadays!

Access to park maps is now electronic and actually you do get a much better quality zoomable HD map to explore. We’ve deleted our park maps folder as they are now out of date anyway. A QUICK UPDATE

I hope you’re all having a good Summer and enjoying a feeling of a little bit of normality. I’ve decided to sit down apply a little pixie dust to the page. It’s quite hard to maintain momentum with it at the moment, with things so changeable & not having been to a Disney park in such a long time. We’re hoping to change that soon.

We’re very much looking forward to a trip to Walt Disney World with my brother and his family in 2022. This will coincide with the 50th Anniversary Celebrations. Tina & I will be staying at the Art Of Animation and Rob and family at Coronado Springs - both of which look amazing. There’s quite a few things open now that were under construction on our honeymoon trip in 2019 - the main one being Galaxy’s Edge.

After a couple of cancellations we’ve now decided not to book Disneyland Paris until it is looking likely we’ll be able to go. This will be our first trip with Spence & Hayley and we’re really excited to be introducing Walt Disney World friends to Disneyland Paris. Right now we’re hopeful we may get a trip in between now and the end of this year, but we'll see.

It's been a year since Tina & I launched Bring The Magic Home and we hope our Disney fans continue to enjoy virtual visits to the Disney Parks. As you know we have posted updates during the year, less so outside lockdown and when the children are at school. We have updated many of the videos and we try to only link 4K ones for fans with larger screens. Technology means we can ride in Virtual Reality now; you can turn your head and look around! We’ll continue to update and post - we enjoy spreading a bit of pixie dust over our little corner of the web. Let’s hope we’ll soon be able to go back to Disney World for real.
