Word for word the day: riad. A riad is a traditional house or palace that typically has an interior open-air courtyard and garden.

They’re usually multiple floors, and have multiple rooms.

The riads in Marrakech have stunning architecture and design. While some riads have been modernized, others are more traditional in their decor.

Black Family Travel’s page administrator visited a riad. This is her room. The interior balcony overlooks the pool and lobby.

Upon arrival she was served tea and warm cookies. Instead of going to a registration desk, she sat in the lobby while the attendant checked her in.
