Biscuits & Gravy
Biscuits & Gravy are a female duo who are often joined by friends from their music community in Richmond, SW London.
Isabel Williams and Emily Waddilove have been singing together for about three years - mainly at local folk clubs and open mics. They play fiddle, banjo and guitar and sing close harmonies - mainly American old time, early bluegrass and gospel. Their rapport, interpretation of the music and genuine love and gratitude for the songs they sing has been noted and praised by many fellow musicians steep
Taking part in the gospel hour & open mic at the coolest old time, bluegrass & cajun festival - Herbe Bleue - in northern France. The loveliest people, stunning venue & outrageously good music … and …. hooray …. square dancing 🤩
Our first visit to the beautiful festival Herbe Bleue in France. We’re joined by Claire Morgan Jones & we’re singing Long Time Travelling, in memory of our beloved friend & fellow musician Debra Clifford (who sang this with Becca Wintle - as the Farewells).
And a special shout-out to Biscuits 'n' Gravy, our support act last night, who also joined Jeni Hankins for each of her set-closing songs. Come back soon!
Still glowing & smiling from ear to ear after being immersed in the warmth & joy of an evening spent with Jeni Hankins. What a gift to not only open for Jeni but to be invited to join her on a couple of her beautiful offerings. Thank you Twikfolk for all the work you put in & to all of you who came out to share the heartfelt music & story telling. Feeling the love 💕
A really fun gig in Richmond at the weekend with our old time buddies Julian, Chris & Ewan.
Playing in the beautiful marquee for Polly & Chris’s 80th and Emily’s birthday .. such a joyful celebration 🎉
Way Out on the Mountain - a women convicts work song (Cummings Farm State Penitentiary 1934)
Singing here during lockdown using the very handy Acapella app. We learned this haunting song in Roger Jackson's excellent harmony workshop in Richmond (November 2019)
