Albuquerque Comic Con – It's January, it's Albuquerque Comic Com 17/01/2024

It's kind of cold everywhere north of the Equator, but Albuquerque, NM is certainly warmer than it is in Montana - or Wisconsin, or Washington, or Massachusetts, or... And (barring unforeseen issues, like a complete airport shutdown or something) Albuquerque, NM is where Dirk will be this weekend! Going? Send pictures! -John

UPDATE: I'm afraid that something broke in the process and as of this moment Dirk's LA appearance is off. Yes, we are disappointed, no, I don't know what happened, but it looks like Dirk will have to celebrate his birthday at home... If things change again, though, I'll let you know right away. -John

Let's see - warm weekend in Albuquerque at the end of this month, Fargo, ND at the end of April... There's a gap there, isn't there. A blank space at about March. A real shame there's nothing to fill it, isn't there? 😇

Gee, could I be more obvious? ;)

March 1-2, The Hollywood Show ( https://www.hollywoodshow.com/default/main ). At the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel. This is so fresh they don't even have him on their website yet! But this is a big show, lots of guests, cast reunions, photo ops, vendors... Promises to be a good time.

Let us know if you're going! Send pictures! -John

Happy New Year!!

26/12/2023

"You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch..."

Every now and then, you run across a Grinch who wants to spoil it for everyone. To throw a wet blanket on your fun. The rest of the year we call people like that "trolls," but since it's Christmas, we'll call him a Grinch.

We had one yesterday. A Grinch who posted a mean-spirited, denigrating, deliberately antagonistic, completely un-called-for comment in a post meant to bring some degree of happiness to everyone - even him, but he couldn't live without trying to bring the rest of us down to his level.

Mr. Grinch can no longer participate here. The ban is permanent.

I have no tolerance whatsoever for people like that. That's not what this site and this page is about. Imposters and trolls have no place here. You're welcome to have differences of opinion, but if you aren't respectful and you troll like Mr. Grinch, you're gone - and there will be no discussion, no warning.

And for all of us non-Grinches, I hope this holiday season continues to bring you joy.

-John

24/12/2023

To everyone who celebrates it, on behalf of Dirk and everyone associated with Dirk Benedict Central, we wish you a very happy, peaceful, and joyful Christmas!

And if you celebrate the Winter Solstice differently, we hope your celebrations are equally fulfilling, peaceful, and bring you and yours much joy and pleasure. -John

Well, good evening/morning (whichever it is when you see this)! ;) It's been too long, but I think you'll agree it's been worth the wait!

Anybody up for a mid-winter road trip to warmer climes?

Last time I looked, the pre-paid Adult 3-day pass was $65 + fees ($10?) Heck of a value, if you ask me.

He's still going to Fargo in April, too.

Let us know if you're going - to either! -John

DEAD END THE MOVIE-Finishing Funds 15/06/2023

And now for something completely different...

It's not a far stretch from sci-fi, so how many of you are fans of horror movies - in particular, zombie movies? Classic stuff, like the "Night of the Living Dead" film series? I have a friend... Actually, Erik is one of the best friends I have in this world, he's a partner in another venture, something of an artistic entrepreneur... Anyway, he made one. A zombie movie, in the style of the late George Romero - the guy who created "Living Dead" films in the first place. It stars a couple of genre notables - Debbie Rochon and Linnea Quigley among others. He screened it at a small horror-themed convention a couple of weeks ago and it was very well received by the audience.

But the production ran out of money before it was finished. So Erik has launched an Indigogo campaign to bring in the needed funds to complete the post-production on it. There are perks for contributors, too.

If you're into such things, the campaign is here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/dead-end-the-movie-finishing-funds--2/x/25004043 #/. Check it out for more information. Yes, you can play a role in bringing a zombie movie to the big screen... And if you belong to social media groups and websites where this would be welcomed, feel free to share it.

Also - please don't take this as a "Dirk Benedict Endorses..." moment, because it isn't. 100% transparency: This is just me, John, letting my friends and acquaintances who might be fans know that this is out there.

Thanks. -John

Upcoming Appearances | 14/06/2023

Thanks to all of you who shared last night's post, here and on Twitter. By all accounts, Jack is good people and so are Dirk's fans. And because of that I'm not going to make you wait for the happier news.

It's a bit far out, and not even on their website yet, so you're hearing it here first: Dirk is booked to appear at next April's Fargo Pop Expo. Fargo, ND - site of that famous movie and TV series - will host Dirk Benedict at their April 20-21, 2024 event! Address and website link are on our "Coming Attractions" page at the website: https://dirkbenedictcentral.com/upcoming-appearances-2/

I suppose I could have waited a few months to announce this... But you deserve to be able to plan ahead for it! -John

OK. As I said, I've got three things to talk about. And I didn't think it through, so this might get a little awkward... So be it, because they're all important.

The old business is the more serious, less fun thing, so let's get that out of the way first.

You'll remember that I posted about Laurette's GoFundMe for Jack Stauffer a few months ago, when he lost his leg to a serious infection. Well, it looks like it's only reached about half its goal. I am not going to ask anybody to contribute a second time or anything (unless you want to), but if we could help make some new noise about it in the various related groups we all belong to we might bump up Jack's total some. Here's Laurette's original post again: https://www.facebook.com/SpangMc/videos/1905020179840702

-John

13/06/2023

Hi, everybody! It's been awhile since I've posted; life has an annoying tendency to interfere with what you want to do, doesn't it? ;)

So - I've got three items I want to run by you. One piece of old business, one piece of new business, and something that has nothing to do with Dirk Benedict or DirkBenedictCentral.

Which should I post about first? -John

01/03/2023

Happy Birthday, Dirk!

I've already been getting "Happy Birthday" messages for Dirk from around the world, and the days only just starting for him! They are greatly appreciated and will be passed along to him, I promise. -John

28/01/2023

I'm going to harp on this a little - let's spread the word, far and wide, about the Jack Stauffer GoFundMe page that Laurette's started. There's still a ways to go to meet the goal. And if you go to Laurette's page, you'll see an update from Laurette, and a really cool message from Jack himself! Tell all your friends! ;) -John

24/01/2023

Wow - was it really 40 years ago today (the 23rd) that The A-Team premiered? Time flies when you're having fun...

Of course, Dirk really didn't join the show for another episode or two, if I recall correctly. But still, Happy Birthday, A-Team!

-John

15/01/2023

Hey, everybody. I don't usually do this, but this is kinda one of ours...

Jack Stauffer (aka Battlestar's "Bojay") is a good guy who's having some trouble. I'm linking a video that Laurette Spang McCook posted a short time ago. Please, watch and listen, and follow the link in her post, and let's see if we can make his life a little less stressful. And pass it on!

Thanks. -John

10/09/2022

I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Dirk's UK fans, and all the people of the United Kingdom, on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A remarkable woman who was a steady presence on the world stage for longer than most of us have been alive. Our best wishes go to King Charles III - I believe the proper expression is: God save the King.

14/07/2022

I'm afraid I must confirm that the Fanboy Knoxville convention appearance has, in fact, been canceled. We don't have a reason; Dirk did not withdraw, his appearance was canceled by the event promoter. So I'm sorry to say it's off the calendar and Dirk will not be going to Knoxville next month. -John

10/07/2022

Folks, I only just learned that the Fanboy Knoxville event is saying that Dirk's appearance has been canceled. I have not yet received word from the man himself (he's been a little busy with yesterday's GalaxyCon Live event - which was a rousing success by all accounts, feeling a bit under the weather notwithstanding), so I don't yet know what's up with this.

I do know cancellations happen despite the best intentions of everyone involved; sometimes scheduling conflicts come up, or the event has issues, something goes awry and the appearance can't happen. Regardless of why, nobody walks away happy when an appearance has to be cancelled, not the event, not the celebrity, and certainly not the fans hoping to see them.

I'll let you know what I find out. -John

4th of July - Independence Day. The day, 246 years ago, that our Founding Fathers declared that we were no longer British subjects, that we were an independent nation, an independent people.

Say what you will about our current state of affairs (elsewhere), this is still a day to be celebrated, for never before was there a nation where you not only could, but were expected to make your own destiny, based on your own talents, dreams, and hard work. Happy Birthday to the United States of America.

19/06/2022

On behalf of Dirk and all of us at Dirk Benedict Central, a very Happy Father's day to all the out-of-this-world Dads out there! -John

Family obligations kept me off-line most of today, so let me say now that everyone associated with Dirk Benedict Central honors and remembers those who paid the ultimate price so that this nation could stay free, which is the purpose of Memorial Day. We salute you. -John

19/05/2022

How many of you are familiar with GalaxyCon? You should be; during the Covid lockdowns they made a great effort to bring us our favorite celebrities in virtual "conventions," and by all accounts did a good job. Dirk did one, in fact.

At 4:00 p.m. EDT on July 9th, Dirk will once again be live and "in person" on GalaxyCon Live. You need to sign up for it, FYI, and you can send something for him to autograph... Go to the link below for information. -John

Upcoming Appearances | 17/05/2022

Facebook is always asking what's on my mind. Right now, Facebook, I have a headache... ;)

Actually, I wanted to remind everyone that in a couple of weeks Dirk will be at the Fanboy Expo in Columbus, OH (that's May 27-29). And at the Fanboy Expo in Knoxville, TN in August. The Fanboy people put on a good show...

And that if it isn't on the "Upcoming Appearances" list on the site, any rumor he's appearing elsewhere is just that - a rumor. Feel free to check with me about specific events, but at the moment only these two are confirmed.

And I'll also pass along that all is well, spring has sprung, and work around the homestead is never done........ -John

Take everything else with a grain of salt, as they say; nothing else has been locked down yet. You'll know as soon as I do. -John
