Blois-Chambord This blog is about a trip that my daughter and I did last summer in 2022. Blogging is sooooo 2018... but here it goes... After a couple of nights in Paris and Orleans, we made our way to the cycling part of our tour, starting properly in the centre of Blois. The Chateau Royal, a glorious park, and tourist information are right smack in the centre of town....

To know Paris is to love it 🙂 We arrived by plane to Paris. Travelling by plane wasn't really my first choice but sustainable options just aren't there. What with Brexit and the pandemic, I don't know what happened to Eurolines or the Bike Bus, but from what I can work out, their services have pretty much ceased. Driving to France is just not for me - which was fortunate as I couldn't handle queuing through Kent for the border checks at Dover....

The slow-cycle way is to spend a long time dreaming about hopping on a long-distance bike ride... And one I'd been wanting and waiting to do was The Loire, from Orleans, past the great chateaux of the Loire to the West coast of Brittany. This would mean that I'd follow a part of Eurovelo 6 again. This time, in the opposite direction....

Old skool map! I was really pleased when Susan and Jo from Atalanta Adventures (Goddesses of Adventure) put this extended Coast to Coast tour on this July because it's been on my list for a while. The scenery is pretty spectacular, particularly the first two days from the west through Morecambe and the Yorkshire Dales. Day 3, going through York is (mercifully) flat and the final stretch is undulated, hilly at times....

WISA is now on Whatsapp...
Just been out for a walk and got back to this lovely review. So great to get positive feedback. Sending some books to Croatia this afternoon. Getting excited about adventures this summer! 😊
🚴Some GOOD NEWS yesterday that an article and review of the book will be going in an edition of Cycle magazine (produced by Cycling UK) at some point. Looking to get out and about more with the book for talks and meeting contributors IN REAL LIFE when this lockdown is over. Yay! Here is a photo of me looking windswept...

I didn't get to France this year but I found these flowers just down the road in Worksop. Amazing to find new tracks, roads and places close to where I live this year proving that you don't need to spend much or go far to have a microadventure on your bike.
Thank you to everyone who has shared their stories, bringing light, laughter and sunshine to dark days. Ruth x
Here's Nicky, a lovely lady and generous to a fault. Please share your stories about Nicky. For me she was a life-saver on my first tours, always up-beat with hot water for coffee in the morning! Go-go gadget queen! Thanks for being part of the book Nicky, I hope you are well, Ruth x
How to review - it's absurdly simple. Type "Ruth McIntosh In Search of Adventure"... in Google. On the right hand side of your screen (far side) you might see the book named and a drop down panel with some stars to click on. Click the number of stars you want then make a comment below that would be helpful to other readers/ the book's potential readers. One line or two will do. Please leave your initials if you are happy to do so. Ruth x ps. if you didn't like the book please send me a dm with your feedback.
Hello there. If you have read the book, please can you leave a review which would be helpful to prospective readers. Just a line or two would be great. Thanks x

Thank you so much Denise! Hope you enjoy this! A "next-level" endurance cyclist, Denise has been so kind and supportive to all kinds of people getting in to cycling... Those Irish eyes are always smiling, charming everyone she meets. I first met Denise on my first tour to France. My shoes were rubbing and she gave me some spare pop socks... And if anyone was ever hungry, (always me!) Denise could rummage in her panniers and produce all sorts of treats. She also taught me some tricks... to carry condiments like salt and pepper sachets from MacDonalds etc. Denise could write a book of her own, but if there's ever more WISA, she's lined up to tell me her secrets! He he!
