I know it’s ‘cuter’ to leave an emoji and that be that ... But something on my mind right now - The Inner Critic.

Over the years I’ve unknowingly picked up the bad habit of equating productivity with happiness, and only feeling fulfilled when busy (in my case damn near exhausted) - Lockdown has been so hard for me to slow down, to be one place for a long time and essentially chill out!

I’ve been lucky enough to achieve so much through dancing and it’s taken me all over the world, and I am so grateful. But I honestly don’t know who I am without it. I find myself beating myself up mentally if I haven’t worked out, danced, cleaned, scaled a mountain daily!!

So I’m looking into techniques on interrupting the inner critic. It’s not easy - especially in lockdown 2, seeing people elsewhere performing/ training, while I’m not allowed outside lol.
Buuuttt it’s okay to take the time - and you shouldn’t punish yourself for doing so. Especially, during these times that no one has navigated before!!

Fair play if anyone made it this far... all this to say, take it easy on yourself - a daytime nap really isn’t going to hurt anyone. Love and light ✨

- Thank you for showcasing an African civilisation without the effects or colonialism or slavery. Thank you for creating a picture synonymous with beauty, royalty and intelligence.

- Thank you for influencing a whole generation of young black children that saw themselves in a superhero!! On and off the screen. All the roles you played, you took specifically- you refused any roles that depicted black people as criminals, junkies or slaves. It’s no coincidence all the roles you played were leaders!! And monumental in the black community.

- Thank you for always upholding and respecting women. Thank you for showcasing beautiful black women that on and off screen did not feel the need to adhere to the Eurocentric idea of beauty. This did more than you can imagine. Thank you for shining a light on strong black women - strong not because they were angry or hurt - strong because they were strong and knew that life begins with them!!

- Thank you for somehow fighting this awful battle in silence, and raising money and awareness for other cancer patients. Whilst making movies that will be cherished forever.

I wanted to post a professional picture of myself, however I’ve been more inspired by the women posting natural pictures of themselves; throughout lockdown I’ve seen so many ladies on my timeline make up free, care free and wonderful!! Honestly the ‘beauty’ industry would completely destruct if we all realised how natural beautiful we are without all that stuff... Not to say it’s not nice to dress up once in a while but maybe today just smile and be authentically yourself!

Aiming for progressive action: no discriminatory, inflammatory or divisive language will be tolerated.
- Tag pages that are helping raise awareness
- Tag pages/ companies/ artists that are helping raising awareness
- Tag friends and family who need help navigating race relations sensibly - Tag people who need to pull up!!

The problem is honestly so deep rooted it doesn’t only exist (although greatly) in white supremacy but within our black community too. This is a all hands on deck situation! We need to educate EVERYBODY!!✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
