Some Flex Departures from Red Flag 2024-2
Earlier this week, an Airbus A400M belonging to the Ejército del Aire visited Malta twice within a span of two days for a fuel stop.
This is the last A400M that was delivered to the Spanish Air Force and sports 50th anniversary markings on its tail.

Thanks to the Ambassade de France à Malte, today we had the opportunity to visit the Marine nationale La Fayette-class Frigate FS Aconit (F713) whilst on a port call in the Grand Harbour. A report of our visit will follow.

Today MAR members attended AIRVG24 to witness one of the last public displays of the venerable Croatian Air Force MIG-21s - the only flying examples left in Europe! The static display also included several examples of their rotary units. A report will follow in the coming weeks!

The Italian Coast Guard has deployed two maritime vessels and two aircraft (ATR-42 and AW-139) to participate in a maritime military exercise called Barracuda 2024. The exercise is being held in Maltese Territorial waters between the 6th and 9th of May 2024.
Barracuda 2024 has been bilaterally organised between the Armed Forces of Malta and the Italian Coastguard in collaboration with other local and foreign stakeholders such as Transport Malta, Virtu Ferries, the European Maritime Safety Agency, and the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre, amongst other stakeholders.
The exercise will be executed in three distinct phases, and aims to improve the capabilities, coordination and interoperability in several different pertinent areas such as mass rescue operations and pollution response scenarios.

The second Airbus Casa C-295W for the Indian Air Force landed in Malta earlier this afternoon following a long flight that started from the Airbus manufacturing plant in Seville.
Of the total 56 aircraft ordered by the Indian Air Force, the first 16 examples will be built by Airbus in Seville. The remainder will be produced by Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) in Vadodara, Western India.
The first Casa C-295W to be built entirely in India is scheduled for September 2026.

Lt Connor O'Donnell prepares to commentate the Blue Angels Demo at Travis AFB.
Lt O'Donnell joined the Blue Angels in September 2023. He has accumulated over 1,200 flight hours and more than 200 carrier-arrested landings.

Sneak peak! Two of our members were present during a NATO Allied Air Command media flight on board an Armée de l'Air et de l'Espace Airbus A330 MRTT escorting Mirage 2000-5F's from Groupe de Chasse 1/2 Cigognes to Siauliai Air Base, Lithuania to take over Baltic enhanced Air Policing Missions. The flight also included meeting with Ilmavoimat - Flygvapnet - Finnish Air Force F/A-18 Hornets partaking in Air Shielding Missions and a QRA Exercise with Aeronautica Militare F-2000s.
