One of artist Waxamani Mehinako's creative moments.

Waxamani Mehinako comes from the Kaüpuna village in Alto Xingu, Mato Grosso.

Far beyond being a craftsman, he can also be considered a visual artist from the Xingu indigenous territory.

His canvases depict the indigenous graphics and body paintings carried out in the rituals of the Mehinako people. As well as the paints being 100% handmade, Waxamani does not use brushes or rulers in his painting. Their technique involves only their creativity and the teachings of their ancestors. The black paint is obtained by mixing resin from the forest with charcoal. The red paint is made from annatto seeds.

VIRIDIS GALLERY introduces:

One of artist Simone Bellusci's creative moments.

As a child, Simone Bellusci took art lessons with Udhi Jozzolino, a visual artist from Londrina, which was decisive for her choices in this area.

Later, between 1978 and 1982, she began her studies in Art in the studio of Leticia Marquez. Graduated in Arts from the State University of Londrina in 1984, she participated in engraving courses as a university extensionprogram. Graduated in Full Degree in Arts from the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation (Faap) in 1987, she was a student and assistant of Claudio Mubarac, Mario Ishikawa and José Moraes.

Between 1986 and 1990, she deepened her studies in Contemporary Art with Renina Katz, Maria Bonomi, Nuno Ramos, Paulo Monteiro, Carlos Evandro Jardim, Ubirajara Ribeiro, José Spaniol, Herman Takasei, LuizeWeiss and Luiz Hermano. In the same period, she contributed to the assembly of the 19th Bienal de São Paulo. She founded the center of editorial Art projects at Scriba publishing house, where she currently directs the Art and Design department. Since 2009, she has established her painting studio in Londrina, in the state of Paraná, where she lives and works In 2022 realized the exhibition Paisagens Approximates at Hangar 43, Londrina/PR, Brazil.

On March 3 to 5, 2023, participated in the exhibition at the international art fair (Un) Fair Milan. Participation in the contemporary art exhibition Unraveling, at the Van Gogh Art Gallery in Madrid, Spain.

Mauro Kersul is an artist, poet and sculptor from São João del Rei, Minas Gerais - Brazil.

He began painting professionally in 2015 and has held more than 90 exhibitions around the world in countries such as Portugal, Spain, France, Switzerland, England, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Liechtenstein, USA, Argentina, Chile, Romania, Germany and several cities in Brazil have received his thought-provoking art. His works have won awards and are part of the collections of collectors, galleries and museums.

Her technique, her subtle and intelligent engagement with a subject, enchants us with every canvas. It's a great pleasure to see that his work takes viewers and admirers of the arts into a world of new directions, beauty and plasticity.

VIRIDIS GALLERY introduces:

Dhai Maus, a visual artist from Rio Grande do Sul, was born on 12 November 1980. Her life has a very eclectic repertoire: poet, chemistry technician, actress, businesswoman, psychologist, civil servant, mother, master's and doctorate in social and institutional psychology, writer, counsellor, astrologer, passionate about life. All of this, catalysed by the diagnosis of early-onset Parkinson's disease at the age of 33, gives movement, content and performance to the artist's work. Dhai has had exhibitions in Paris, Amsterdam, Venice and Barcelona, as well as being the Brazilian ambassador for the Italian art group Itsliquid and having received the Woman Art Award in 2024, recognised by Unesco.

VIRIDIS GALLERY introduces:

Margarida Germano, a Portuguese from the Alentejo region, has been painting and doodling for as long as she can remember. She learnt from great masters such as Eduardo Patarrão, who opened up her horizons and introduced her to modern and abstract lines, José Carlos Prudêncio, where she explored the impressionist style, and Pollyanna Ferreira, where she perfected her technique and immersed herself in the challenge of free drawing.

Painting people and feelings are her favourites, showing great sensitivity to detail and dedicating herself intensely to each brushstroke.

She oscillates between extremes that complement each other in her message of hope and nostalgia, the feeling of restlessness and the search for new spaces. Perhaps in the need to spread her wings and fly to new themes, spaces, colours and tones.

Award-winning photographer ANDRÉ SENNA was born in Diamantina, Minas Gerais.

His photography can be considered a painting and his images are reminiscent of impressionist paintings, although the artist is not bound by traditional patterns or rules. His work explores all the possibilities offered by the magic of the digital camera, using technological resources to make elaborate artistic interventions, transforming his photos into contemporary art.

He has taken part in exhibitions in Brazil and abroad and his images are finding new trails every day in different countries.

Today we're going to share with you an interview with our friend, compatriot and painter Bruno Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes, born in the city of Timóteo, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and currently living in Brussels, has always dreamed of being a painter since he was a child.

After many sacrifices to realise his dream, he studied painting at the Brussels School of Fine Arts. He uses different techniques, experimenting, playing with brushes and creating abstract canvases.

Always present at group exhibitions and galleries in Belgium, every day he collects more administrators of his beautiful work.

His works have already been exhibited in galleries in Brazil, Luxembourg, Brussels, Paris and Germany, and are present in residences in various countries.

VIRIDIS GALLERY introduces:

WILLI DE CARVALHO was born in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, and currently lives and works in Monte Alegre do Sul, São Paulo.
The artist from Minas Gerais has a meticulous and peculiar view of the world. Various elements bring his creations to life. One of the most characteristic aspects of his work is the way he deals with colour. After learning the cold porcelain technique, Willi started using it to make the coatings for the animals and characters, their clothes, props, utensils and details, as well as parts of the sets, which gave him greater productivity and speed. Occasionally, he also used the papier-mâché technique for his larger pieces.
He was honoured by the União da Ilha do Governador samba school with a float in honour of the feast of Saint Peter, and the allegory - Saint Peter's Maritime Procession - was inspired by Willi's drawings.
He has taken part in more than 40 solo exhibitions and more than 500 group exhibitions in Brazil and other countries. These include "Willi de Carvalho Grandes Miniaturas" and the exhibition Brasil dos Gerais Les Grandes miniatures de Willi de Carvalho - Brussels - Belgium 2014, "Grandes Maestros Del Arte Popular de lbero-América" - From the collection of Banamex Banco de México, which was exhibited in Europe and across the American continent. Today it returns to Belgium via the VIridis Gallery.

Crossing the ocean...
Ana Arcioni and Michel De Ryck, enchanted by the diversity, cultural richness, joy and love of the Brazilian people, came up with an idea: to talk about Brazil through art.
For us, the art of Brazil is, above all, a means of communication between knowledges, based on the belief that art is a wisdom of making and transmitting thoughts, feelings, results of the combination of indigenous, African and European influences in a group, in a region of Brazil, in an artist.
For more than three years we travelled around Brazil and, in the end, we decided to change our lives completely and dedicate ourselves intensely, together with Brazilian artists, to transforming all the knowledge we had acquired into the Viridis Gallery project.

To show, delight, communicate and share.
Viridis Gallery has a significant collection of works of art in different forms of artistic expression. All the works chosen were created with materials that confirms the importance of the concept of sustainability and its reach at all social and artistic levels.
