We have an exciting new event coming up this month, the Crossover Event! This event is focused on promoting multi-sport athletes, and encouraging more basketball/football players to give baseball a try!
Youth sports overall has become increasing specialized over past decades and we are seeing more and more of our youth commit to one sport before they reach middle school. There are many factors that surround the “why” behind this trend but I believe the focus should be more about how we balance the scales?
Athletes are athletes. The sport doesn’t define their ability, how they sharpen their skill set defines their ability. I’ve never met an athlete that doesn’t love to compete- at everything. The Crossover Event is focused on opening a door some kids may not have known was there. Introducing them to a sport they may not have played before and in a way that allows them to really see how their skills translate and enjoy the new experience with kids they already play other sports with.
There are so many benefits kids can gain from playing multiple sports...
Opportunities for them to be challenged and overcome- building confidence and character. Healthier for young growing bodies to rest certain muscle sets and instead of just breaking - try engaging with a different sport to continue to challenge their mind & body in a different way. Balance.
At the very least, we hope to get kids & their basketball/football teammates out, have some fun competitions, learn some baseball history and play some ⚾️ball with good company!

Thank you everyone for "liking" our page. The Black Diamond Baseball Foundation was founded in July 2020 due to a lack of diversity in both our community baseball leagues and baseball at every level.
Our first event was held in July. The first-ever little league Negro League Celebration. The event celebrated the 100th year anniversary of the Negro Leagues and was an outstanding event for our community in Jefferson County.
We are looking forward to doing more work in the community to increase the diversity in youth baseball and educating the masses on the Black history of baseball.
Thanks again for joining us and we hope to see you at our next event!

Our mission is to increase opportunities for Black minorities in the sport of baseball by bringing awareness to the diverse history, reducing financial barriers, and creating more accessibility for Black minorities and underrepresented youth to play the sport.
Working with our community we were able to co-host Little League's first-ever, Negro League Day Celebration. July 2020 marked the 100th Anniversary of the Negro Leagues and the month our event took place, a very special moment for the kids and community.
In order to promote the sport of baseball and spread knowledge, we will continue hosting community-driven events centered around those concepts. Another important area of focus we have is to increase accessibility to community baseball facilities, which will create more opportunities for kids to play baseball. Currently, we are working on our scholarship fund that will assist children with the expenses that come with playing the sport and collect new/used equipment to donate to kids who are in need.
Our efforts are primarily focused on education (history), creating more exposure/ opportunities for youth to play baseball, and reducing the financial barriers that minority and underrepresented youth face.
