My daughter and I attended the Democrats’ election party last night. I did not get elected, but am proud of the campaign I ran and the women with whom I shared the Town of Oyster Bay slate. Having never met each other prior to this race, we learned and worked well together; I consider them all friends.

As a non-politician running for public office for the first time, I encountered many eye-opening moments along the learning curve.
This campaign was a crazy ride and a great experience; however, I could NOT have done it without my village.

My family, friends, neighbors, PTA community, former colleagues and random strangers continuously talked me off the ledge, gave me campaign advice, picked up groceries for me, looked after my daughter (not the random strangers!) when I attempted to be in five places at once, showed up to my backyard fundraiser and generally made me feel like I wasn’t crazy to jump into this adventure and that I might actually be of help to the Town of Oyster Bay community if I happened to get elected.

I appreciate and thank each one of you!

My biggest thanks go to my daughter. She just turned 10 years old last week, and starting with our initial petitioning walks in February, she has accompanied me almost everywhere, from door-knocking and meetings in our Plainview office to various events all over town, meeting and talking to people with me. She has been a great sport this whole year, and I hope I have been a good example to her.

Sunset instead of sunrise this evening meeting commuters at Hicksville train station (below is one of the eagles from the original Penn Station!).

It was great to see one of our dedicated volunteers before she boarded her train—volunteers make the campaigning world go ‘round!! Thank you for all your hard work this year!!

Happy Halloween!! I started this morning in Hicksville with great volunteers—today is the last day of early voting!!

Election Day is Tuesday!!

If you have already voted, thank you! If you have not, come out Tuesday—your vote is your voice!!

Local elections matter. They are what touch our lives most directly, and affect your day to day environment. Local policy determines your neighborhood roads, trash pickup, parks…come out and vote!!

We found that neighbors and friends who attended are concerned, like many Oyster Bay residents, about our roads, accountability and pay-to-play antics in our town.
