GiGi's Journey
Therapy and service animals positively impact lives every single day and NOT just for their human bu
Gigi made so many new friends at the schools we revisited in WNC the last two days. Everyone was so appreciative that she was there and said how awesome it was to see the kids, smiling and excited. She loves and misses you all so much!!!
Gigi has worked so hard today bringing joy to the teachers returning to work after the time away due to the storm. We are in Buncombe county along with other counselors from around NC.
I’ve had many people ask what Gigi does when she’s not at school with me….. well when she is off duty she enjoys digging in the mud, having zoomies and running in huge circles all over the yard and playing with Kai…….. she works hard every day at school and with me so she needs breaks just like humans do.
love this
Wow.. Amazing🤩
Gigi doing what Gigi does best. Giving love and reassuring people when their nerves are unsteady.
Love these guys 💕💕💕
Deep in the tropical forests of Central and South America is where you’ll find the home of the kinkajou. While this darling critter may look a bit like a primate with its long tail and big eyes, it is actually related to the raccoon. Spending most of their time in the trees, this species is capable of turning their feet backwards, making it easy to run along branches or up and down tree trunks. While they regularly consume fruit and small mammals, one of their favorite treats is honey, which they obtain by raiding beehives - a habit that has led some to call them honey bears. Attention all potential fawn-nappers!
Just because you see a baby deer all alone doesn't mean it's auditioning for a local production of Little Orphan Annie.
Newborn fawns are like teenagers. They get left alone for hours while Mom runs errands. This sneaky strategy keeps predators from following mom to find them. Usually, these fawns are stashed away in tall grass or bushes, but sometimes they're found in more obvious places - like your backyard.
If you stumble upon a fawn that appears to be orphaned, hold off on your rescue mission. Give it at least 24 hours to see if Mom returns. If the fawn appears to be in distress and is calling out loudly or covered in flies, then call our N.C. Wildlife Helpline at 866-318-2401.
Gigi and her bff, well at least one of them💕
It’s that time of year! Please stay vigilant! 🐢
With the warm weather moving in, these wonderful creatures will be making their appearances.
If you decide to help them cross the road: Please do it in the path they are already headed. Be sure to wash your hands afterwards.
* Please do NOT take them home!*
If you find one hurt: Please ensure that you take them to right place! Turtles require a specific type of care and plenty of time to heal!
You can call our office and we will be happy to help you find the right rehabilitation center for them!
Even Gigi gets to take a break on a friends, comfy beanbag on crazy days!!!!
“Shade” could use a little love and some good juju sent her way. She’s one of the 18 we just brought in (with more on the way). This mighty girl came to us last week when her mom realized her mental health would no longer allow her to care for sweet Shade. Choosing to give up a pet is never easy.
Well… Shade is a very lucky girl. Turns out she’s a special needs kinda girl. Her veterinary exam revealed the following.
🩺 An enlarged heart - on meds now
😷 An infection - on meds now
🏥 Low calcium - new diet
🩼 Previous fracture - monitor for pain
But the girl is beyond sweet, takes her meds like a champ, and is looking for a special home willing to love a special girl.
While we weren’t expecting everything that Shade has going on, we are thankful we can help her.
Shade is just one of the many we have brought in this year already. If you would like to donate towards her care or to future medical cases, please consider donating at reddogfarm.com/donate. Thank you for sharing or sponsoring!
