Andrew Boschman for White City
Transparent, forward thinking leadership for White City Thank you! It has been an honour to serve White City residents over the past 4 years.
My name is Andrew Boschman and I am a father of two active young children, a small business owner, a Communiskate board member, and your neighbour. I am proud to live in such a great community with so many great people and so much potential. Four years ago I ran for council to bring some fresh thinking and a different perspective to the table, and I believe that I have done that. I have challenged
A massive Thank You to everyone who braved the snow yesterday to vote in the civic election. We had the largest voter turn out that White City has ever had from what I am aware of. I am truly humbled and honoured to have been elected for Town Council again and can not wait to get back to work for you!
Congratulations to everyone who was elected last night and I look forward to working with you all.
I also want to say Thank you to those who were not elected, for the countless years that they have put in to serving this community. There is over a combined lifetime between Howard, Cec, and Bruce both on council and simply volunteering to bring things like the Fire Department, Communiskate, the splash park, and several other things to life in the early years.
Finally, I plan to keep this page active by posting notes from council and committee meetings over this term. Please follow the page if this may interest you, and share it with others that may be. Hopefully this will be a great way to stay engaged and informed.
Thank You!
For anyone that would like to vote in the White City civic election tomorow (November 9th) but do not want to drive, please reach out and I would be happy to to pick you up and drop you off. Text, message, email, or call for a ride. Unlike most of our elections in Canada, every vote matters!
With forward thinking and determination I will continue to work hard for:
• More recreational services and amenities for all ages
• A local High School
• More Value for your tax dollars
• Be a part of, and prioritizing a renewed positive relationship with our neighbouring communities and the RM which does not exist under our current leadership and history.
• Continue to improve communication between the town and residents
• Ensuring that past mistakes with our water and sewer utilities are not repeated, and that a better, fairer system is put in place for rates
• Successful completion of Annexation and unifying this community
• Responsible planning for the future with regards to infrastructure, development, traffic, policing, and bylaws
• Ensuring that future developments include useable green space and parks
• Being a voice for YOU, the residents of this community, by listening and bringing forward your concerns, issues, and feedback
Some of the things I am most proud to have accomplished and worked on are:
• As part of the past recreation and culture committee and current chair of the community services committee, I have been a part of developing the summer festival, the winter festival, twinkle tour, and other events designed to bring the community together
• I introduced and fought for the new outdoor rink and the rejuvenation of the old outdoor rink at Ecole White City
• I brought forward, and have been part of the proposed multi-use recreation facility that is currently in development with further engagement and consultation scheduled for late this year
• I am part of the annexation committee responsible for negotiation and communication and I am committed to bringing this entire community together
• I have played a large roll in construction of three new playgrounds, planning for more in coming years to fill out areas of need, ball diamond upgrades, green space improvements, and ensuring that future developments dedicate useable greenspace
• Early on in my first term after a presentation from Sask Water (who owns and runs our water treatment facility) at a committee meeting, it became obvious to me we had a bad deal and I asked administration to look into all options including re-purchasing the plant. Ultimately this has become an important issue for council and work is ongoing to better this utility and its rates. In the meantime, I was part of introducing a rate review that has seen changes limiting the sewer charges to better represent the amount of water used in irrigation.
• I have made an effort to improve communication with residents by actively replying, and posting on facebook.
