Day 2 complete with top 10 finishes for riders in both our teams. It was definitely a day for those that can climb.

We all stay upright which unfortunately wasn’t the case for a few across the grades.

Special mention to a bit of bush mechanics with Anthony riding the day with a combo Campag and Shimano hoods after one was broken.

Stages 3&4 today with a Road Race and Team Time Trial.

Day 1 complete and many PB’s set. We all performed extremely well and good for the first time in recent memory had Team 1 finish as a whole team of 6 in a TT.

Well we’re all recovered from TOMR for 2020 and getting ready to support MSWA Ocean Ride. There’s a number of awesome shots coming out from the event photographers. Have a look at the official Tour of Margaret River site for more but here’s a sample of some shots with our team.

TOMR 2020 Day 3 Race Report.

Phew, we’re done for TOMR 2020...

Today was another warm one as we travelled between Nannup and Balingup for Stages Four and Five. Both stages saw us complete the same 40km course with 457m of climbing but in opposite directions. Stage Four was a road race from Nannup and after a wait and a bite to eat in Balingup working on bad cycling tan lines we then headed back into the wind on our return.

The pace across our two teams was fast and we finished off strong as a whole. For team 1, we once again caught and passed the grade above, and with the road closed and both lanes available the race to the finish of Stage 4 was fast and at times a little hectic. We had the group finish together and right at the front, though there was no room for a sprint at the end with the bunch getting a little messy. But we finished with an average of 39.2kph. Team 2 also finished well and had an average of 36.4.

The Stage 5 time trial is always a hard way to finish having put in the hard efforts in the previous stage and then cooling down, getting going again into the headwind and straight into a climb is challenging. Again we needed the time of the 4th rider over the line and Team 1 found themselves down to 4 for much of the stage and with 3 of the 4 taking turns on it was hard work but we got there with a good time overtaking other teams in the process. Team 2 also dropped members and suffered a dropped chain but did an awesome time.

It’s now time to rest and recoup. Given that for many of this years squad they’ve never raced before what has been achieved this weekend is something to be proud of. We’ve all learned a lot, pushed ourselves and had a great time.

Final standings have seen us finish 6 and 7 in F and I grade. We performed pretty well in the various age groups also and our individual positions of the 680 open category riders can be seen in the photos below.

Well done to our teams on an amazing 3 days of racing. Thanks again to all of our sponsors for their support. We’ve got lots of planned rides and events over the rest of the coming year and we look forward to TOMR 2021.

TOMR 2020 Day Two Race Report.

Today was certainly a tough day out on the road, with warm temps and a solid pace out on the road. There were a number of riders across the grades who suffered flat tires and there were a couple of falls. We stayed out of trouble although around the 87km mark of Stage Two, one of our stronger riders Darren who was ready to push at the front toward a strong finish suffered a puncture which saw him dropped from the group. This impacted Team 1’s time as the group had split. A solid pace for Team 1 which caught the grade above and as well as some from all grades above. Average ended up at 38.5kph which dropped when the group was neautralised after catching the grade above. Team 2 finished the stage well and both teams are placed well in their respective groups.

Stage 3 was also at a solid pace with Team 1’s time good enough for the tail of C grade just to show how close the field is.

After an awesome day out on the road it’s rest time. Ready for Stage Four and Five.

Day Two of TOMR 2020 sees us heading to Manjimup for Stages Two and Three. Stage Two is a road race with 99km and 1245m of climbing and Stage Three a 20km Team Time Trial with 387m of climbing. Weather is a warm 30 but hardly any wind

TOMR 2020 Day One report.

Well done to our two teams who have entered TOMR 2020. With a massive field of 130 teams it’s great to get a chance to get out and compete and support some of WA’s regional locations. We certainly live in a great part of the world and this year TOMR has 5 stages over 3 days with some new locations to race this year. The weather has been great in Bridgetown where we’re based this year and Nannup also for Stage One (though a little warm and windy).

With not a lot of racing occurring this year due to COVID and WA’s closed border this has been a very popular event and the field is certainly strong with some amazing talent. This year as a result of the Stage One TTT we’ve been graded in F and I grade. To put the field into perspective last year our team did a very similar time to this years F grade qualification and just missed out on C grade.

It’s great to now be able to field two entries this year and special mention to Blair Pugh who has missed racing this years TOMR due to breaking his collarbone 2 weeks before the event and to Phil Dangerfield for coming in last minute.

This year our teams are sporting new kit thanks to Ventou and look great out on course.
