Rico is an almost 17 year old Yorkshire Terrier. He was Sit Stay’s very first patient (late March 2023). About a year ago, he presented to the ER with kidney failure. He also has a history of cardiac issues, Cushing’s disease, and high fear and stress at the vet (including requiring a muzzle). He was discharged days later in better shape, but required some special care at home: monitoring, fluid administration, and several oral medications. His prognosis was not great due to his age and co-morbidities. But his parents continued to believe in him and gave him the very best everything possible. They cared for him at home and called Sit Stay to help with his several medical orders from discharge. Just call him “Rico the super dog”, because here he is one year later giving kisses to Natasha. He is such a special boy and we are so proud of him!

Chako is a stunning 19 1/2 year old F1 Savannah. He is a giant tiger-cat who needed some specialized in-home petsitting care while his mom was out of town. That’s where Sit Stay came in! Chako got the care he needed so his mom could focus on her trip.

Meet Dozer. He is a super sweet Greater Swiss Mountain Dog mix. He’s also completely blind! His mom adopted him from the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League. She thought it would be best to have some wellness services (eye drop application and a**l gland expression) done at home, due to his blindness and recent transition out of the shelter. HAIL CAESAR!
This 150lb sweetheart is Caesar. He was rescued by his compassionate family from The Saint Bernard Rescue. He came to them with some fear and anxiety regarding his feet. He doesn’t like his paws handled. This made it difficult for his parents to see that his rear dewclaw had overgrown almost into his pad. That’s where SitStay came in. With some patience, trust-building, and a TON of treats, this boy had all of his nails trimmed in the comfort of his own home. He also had his “Saint mats” clipped behind his ears. He has the best smile, doesn’t he?

It was triple the fun last week pet sitting Hazel (top left), Salem (top and bottom right), and Aslan (bottom left). They received plenty of love and attention while their dad was out of town. Salem’s sleepy paws in the last picture are hilarious, aren’t they?!

Good golly Miss Molly! Molly is an adorable poodle who has been experiencing some joint pain due to arthritis. Her mom scheduled her to get a cold laser treatment package to reduce inflammation and increase blood flow to her arthritic limb. She also got pampered with a massage session. Isn’t she just the sweetest?

Sydney is such a distinguished gentleman! He gets very stressed during nail trims. His joints and mobility have also made car rides difficult for him. That’s where Sit Stay came in! Now he gets his nails trimmed in the comfort of his own home with his mom right next to him the whole time. Plus, he gets lots of yummy freeze dried liver treats after his nails are done!

Bentley and Bear are so much fun! They need drop-by visits during mom and dad’s work days. These adorable boys always make the day brighter.

Isn’t Sonny D. a handsome fellow? He has been doing great on his chemotherapy protocol for his Small Cell Lymphoma. However, he started to become increasingly aggressive when getting his chemotherapy administered orally at his oncologist on exam days and at home on non-exam weeks. That’s where SitStay came in! Working closely with his oncologist, Sonny gets his chemotherapy administered and nails trimmed in the comfort of his own home. His mom reports that this is a big stress reducer for Sonny and his owners. I’m so proud of this guy in his battle with lymphoma! Go Sonny!

Yesterday, it was a joy to do a demo of syringe feeding for the foster mom of these adorable puppies and mama. Their mother is doing a great job nursing them, but a couple of the 2 day old puppies hadn’t been gaining weight as they should and needed formula to supplement. Good news! All puppies gained weight today!

Finnegan is a diabetic poodle, who had a really hard life before his wonderful mom rescued him. He needs insulin injections timed with his feedings every 12 hours…even when his mom has to work! That’s where Sit Stay VA comes in. He gets his injections as ordered by his primary vet when his mom can’t be home. He also recently experienced sudden blindness due to underlying cataracts. It’s such a pleasure to see this special pup recovering well from his recent bilateral cataract surgery. Way to go Finn!
