We would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to apply for this year's HEY Global Climate Fund.

We have received several inquiries regarding application feedback. As you may know, the application deadline was extended, and we closed submissions on the 19th. Our team is currently in the process of carefully reviewing all applications and will notify you as soon as possible regarding the status of your submission.

You can expect to hear from us by August 28th, when the top 20 projects will be shortlisted for the next stage of the application process.

🌱On Thursday, August 15th, 2024, 20 shortlisted candidates will be notified.
🌱Shortlisted candidates will attend virtual interviews with The Ashley Lashley Foundation's Evaluation Committee between Tuesday, August 20th and Friday, August 30th, 2024, to present their projects.
🌱Three (3) winning projects will be awarded grants of USD $2500 each, and announced by Friday, September 13th, 2024.

🌱Selected awardees will be expected to provide project updates every two months after acceptance.

Hey Ambassadors, writing a proposal is not only about presenting your solution, budget, and timeline but, also about anticipating and addressing potential risks.

This task can seem at times overwhelming so, in our upcoming Capacity Building Session on Saturday, June 29th at 12 PM AST, Begina Cox, Senior Development and Alumni Engagement Executive at Basenose College University of Oxford will share with you some tips and provide examples of how you can prepare winning proposals for your advocacy projects.

Here's an alarming statistic. According to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, up to 40 percent of the planet's land is degraded, directly affecting half of the world's population.

Not only does it affect the natural environment and natural ecological structures, it puts a significant strain on food security by limiting crop production and worse, increases the negative impacts of weather events caused by climate change.

This year's theme, Our Land. Our Future narrows the focus on Land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience. So we pose a challenge to you.

Unlike other materials, plastic does not biodegrade. It persists in the environment, choking marine wildlife, damaging soil, and contaminating groundwater.

Plastic pollution has serious implications for our future health. But, there are some things you can do to reduce that impact now.

Reduce your own plastic consumption. Use reusable bags, bottles, and containers. Say no to single-use plastics like straws and cutlery.

Raise awareness about plastic pollution. Share information on social media, organize workshops, or give presentations at schools.

Join local beach cleanup events organized by environmental groups or community organizations. These events typically involve collecting plastic waste from shorelines and coastal areas.

Encourage businesses to adopt sustainable practices. Engage with companies to reduce plastic packaging and promote responsible waste management.

Remember, every small action counts. By participating in plastic cleanup initiatives, you’re contributing to a healthier planet for future generations! 🌊🌿🌏
