Monday was a fantastic day for JJ Redick. Not only was it his 40th birthday, but he was also officially named head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers

And now begins the fun part. JJ Redick takes over one of the most scrutinized jobs in professional sports.

The Lakers organization and their fans want championships. Nothing less would be acceptable, even if they face clear roster deficiencies.

Redick has zero coaching experience, but does have 15 years of playing experience. As someone who just got out of the game, that’s valuable.

How will he manage the expectations? Guys’ playing time? The egos? The successes? The losing streaks?

There’s a lot we’ve yet to find out about JJ Redick, but he said it best during his introductory press conference on Monday afternoon.

“I really don’t give a f*ck [what people think]. I want to coach the Lakers. I don’t want to dispel anything. I don’t. I want to become a great coach in the NBA and I want to win championships.”

Things can get ugly for coaches in LA. The only way it doesn’t?
