It's time to place orders for Christmas! The Christmas menu is a lot similar to the Thanksgiving menu except for a few new items. My personal recommendations for last year still stand: Danish Braid, Cranberry Linzertorte, Galette de Rois, and Christmas Scones. Especially the scones - underrated, overlooked, my absolute favorite. December 23, Saturday.

Sun dried Tomato & Basil Sourdough. Great with soups or cheese. Or make sandwiches with it. Available at Pure Joy Ice Cream, 12 noon-10 pm.

We're baking gluten free seeded bread this Wednesday. This bread contains gluten free flours but is baked in a kitchen along with other baked goods containing wheat flour. Pumpkin, sesame, sunflower, and flaxseeds contribute flavor and texture. Each loaf weighs over 2 lbs. and sells at $12. It’s Babette’s turn to sell at the Pumpkin Patch Festival, United Lutheran Church, Bella Vista this Saturday morning. She baked up a storm yesterday.

We had Chicken Marbella (hicken marinated in white wine, oregano, dates, honey, extra virgin olive oil, Kalamta olives - and baked till browned but tender) for lunch. Sopped up the chicken juices with Roasted Garlic and Rosemary Sourdough. It was very very good. Pick up a loaf of Babette's Bakery sourdough from Pure Joy Ice Cream today!

The Hatch Chilies Cheddar Sourdough sold out quickly at Farmers Market. But I did set aside some, just delivered to Pure Joy Ice Cream. Plus the Roast Garlic Rosemary Sourdough. Come get some great ice cream and a loaf for the week.

Roasted garlic rosemary sourdough is my bestselling savory loaf (check it out at Pure Joy Ice Cream) BUT it isn’t my favorite. That’s the Fresh Basil Sourdough. I credit Paul Hollywood for his idea to add a “handful” of basil and cilantro to his sourdough. What I did to the “handful” is to quantify the amounts so the smell and taste is predominantly basil. Cilantro doesn’t add taste so much as it adds complexity. And of course, I needed some novelty - so the Hatch Chile pepper cheddar sourdough makes an appearance - offered only this week seeing it’s the end of hatch pepper season. Meanwhile I urge you to grab some almond biscotti and pair it with Pure Joy Ice Cream and I continue to brag about Babette’s Romanian Honey Walnut pastries. The special we have for you today: Honey Walnut pastries. An yeasted Romanian specialty with a walnut filling, baked in a shape of eight, soaked in a citrus syrup and then glazed with honey and more walnuts. It's great with tea or coffee, as a breakfast or snack. Come by the Farmers Market before it gets too hot. New sourdough option today: Sun dried Tomato Basil. We also have other favorites that went fast last week: Cheese Twists, Gruyere Sourdough, Handheld Apple Pies, and Seeded Banana Bread.
