Time to prepare

Not alarmist. Realist. It's happened before, no reason to think it won't happen again. Our thoughts; get ready now. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. Hay in the trees now. Prepare small stock for cold, prepare to have water for all the stock. This is showing 14⁰ in the atx/satx region. That's cold. That's real cold. Prep for alternative heat sources, in case we lose power again. Make sure all the fuel is stocked up. Look at winterizing the house. Make plans, have plenty of food. Do not panic. Just prepare. We have 3 weeks, let's make the most of it and it should go smoothly even if the very worst comes. And if it doesn't come? Oh well. We'll be set for winter.

The Queen of The Roost baked an absolutely delicious rosemary focaccia this morning. The tang was strong and delightful, while the chew, fresh rosemary bits from the garden, and sea salt rounded out the flavor. Put the AK's away, friends - it's a good day.

Duck Confit - from peasantry to posh, this dish has captured my imagination since I first learned of it. Pair it with whipped and herbed potatoes and you've got a meal that will touch your soul. Thank you God for this beautiful life.
