Do you need to get an ID?

For a compliant ID, applicants must provide proof of:
✔️ Full legal name
✔️ Date of birth
✔️ Legal presence in the U.S.
✔️ Social Security Number
✔️ Ohio street address, two documents from different sources on the acceptable document list, proving Ohio street address are required for proof of Ohio residency.
✔️ Proof of name change (if applicable)

For a Standard ID, applicants must provide proof of:
✔️ Full legal name
✔️ Date of birth
✔️ Legal presences in the U.S.
✔️ Social Security number
✔️ Ohio street address
✔️ Proof of name change (if applicable)
Before visiting a licensing agency, be sure you have all the necessary documentations to be issued an ID.

The BMV has updated the Ohio Driver Manual of the state’s motor vehicle laws. This manual is used as a study guide to pass the knowledge test to obtain a driver’s license. The new format will allow the BMV to continuously update laws and public safety guidelines easily and efficiently. The manual is available online only at https://bit.ly/2GZjSQ7 and is compatible with mobile devices.

Congratulations to Examiner Dionne with the Barberton Driver Exam Station for identifying an impostor who attempted to take a driving and maneuverability test under the name and identifiers of another person. The information was referred to the Ohio BMV Investigations Section where the Investigator was able to uncover more information about the scheme. Dionne’s keen observation and quick action prevented an unqualified applicant from obtaining an Ohio driver’s license and ultimately led to the identification of the impostor.
