People 1st have an exciting opportunity for school leavers (16 years +) to explore apprenticeship options in joinery, bricklaying, general operative roles, and electrical and plumbing trades. People 1st is hosting a Construction Pre-Apprentice Academy from the 27th to the 30th of August, designed to introduce young people to these trades and help them secure much sought-after apprenticeship placements; with direct access to employers seeking employees.
We recognise that many young people face significant challenges in securing employment, particularly when it comes to finding apprenticeship opportunities in construction. These challenges include a lack of hands-on experience, limited exposure to potential employers, and the need for essential certifications. This pre-enrolment course aims to address these issues directly.
The course will include the following:
• Day 1 (27th August): Induction and Health & Safety training.
• Day 2 (28th August): Taster sessions for General Operative, Joinery, and Bricklaying, with an opportunity to meet potential employers.
• Day 3 (29th August): Taster sessions for Electrical and Plumbing trades, followed by employer introductions.
• Day 4 (30th August): CSR card fully funded (£114) training and exam
Free transport is available from centralised pick-up points.
Benefits of Enrolling:
• Hands-on Experience: Students will participate in practical sessions across various trades, giving them a real feel for the work involved.
• Employer Interaction: Direct engagement with local employers who are looking to hire apprentices, offering a unique opportunity to make a positive impression.
• Certification: Training and examination for the CSR card, an essential certification for working on construction sites.
• Career Guidance: Insight into the different trades, helping students make informed decisions about their future careers.
We believe this programme will be incredibly beneficial for students considering a career in these fields. It provides them with practical experience, essential training, and direct pathways to employment through apprenticeship placements.
