With immense pleasure, we would like to inform that Ms. Shweta Bhatt, will be delivering a talk on the topic " Introduction to Named Entity Recognition " on November 4, 2020 at 5 pm as part of the newly initiated AILP colloquium series.

About the speaker
Shweta Bhatt works as a Data Scientist at Jupiter and is based out of Bangalore, India. She is a Google Developer Expert for Machine Learning and an AI/ML mentor at Springboard. Her interests within AI include Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning and Game Theory. She holds a Master's degree from King's College London in Artificial Intelligence and an undergraduate degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in Information Systems. She loves travelling and exploring new places and cultures and is a tea enthusiast.

Abstract of the talk
This talk would cover the basics of Named Entity Recognition which is a critical problem of Information Extraction within Natural Language Processing. It would cover how to identify and formulate an NER problem. How to prepare datasets for training an NER model and what are few metrics to evaluate NER models. Discuss some of the popular ML algorithms for solving NER and latest trends.
